Kent H. Coolidge, 82, of Salina, died Friday, June 7, 2013. He was born March 19, 1931, in Manhattan.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and a master’s degree from Emporia State Teachers College. In 1969, he moved to Salina to work for Social and Rehabilitation Services as a counselor for the visually impaired. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, elder and drove the church bus. He received the Christ Exemplary Award from the American Baptist Churches.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine M. Coolidge; and a brother, Dale Coolidge.

Survivors include two sons, William Coolidge, of Assaria, and John Coolidge, of Salina; daughter, Lisa Laue, of Greenleaf; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at First Baptist Church, Salina. Private inurnment will be at a later date.

The family suggests memorials to the church. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.

Shirley Ann Davis, 70, of Salina, died Saturday, June 8, 2013. She was born the daughter of Lester and Luella (Griggs) Vogan on Dec. 6, 1942. She married Don Seward on Sept. 25, 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jesse Kohler; two sisters, Katherine Tucker and Norma Rose; and four brothers, Gene, Dale, and Leland Vogan and Randy Collins.

Shirley was a member of the ASPCA.

Survivors include her husband, Don Seward; three children, Angela Lance, of Salina, Gary Davis and wife Janet, of New Cambria, and Francine Gourdine, of Mililani, Hawaii; one sister, Vera Eddy, of Grasslake, Mich.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, with the family greeting friends from 6-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at the mortuary.

Memorials may be made to the Shirley Ann Davis Memorial Fund and may be sent to or left at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina.
