Gerald E. Everett was born June 21, 1938 in Abilene, Kansas the son of Lewis E. and Helen B. (Ross) Everett. He passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Wichita, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and an infant brother Larry D. Everett.
Gerald was united in marriage to Lola M. Adee on August 20, 1961 in Abilene. To this union two children were born Donald E. Everett and Julie D. Boyd.
Gerald attended Abilene Schools graduating with the class of 1956. He then attended Brown-Mackie Business College receiving an associate’s degree in Business Management.
He was a very avid sports fan of every sport, especially the Kansas City Royals. He loved fishing with friends and especially his granddaughters.
Gerald served his country in the United State Air Force from 1960 – 1964 stationed first at K.I Sawyer AFB in Michigan and then in Okinawa, Japan.
After being discharged from the Air Force he went into business with his parents and brothers Dennis and Ronald in the trucking business called Everett’s Inc.
Survivors include his loving wife Lola of the home; son Don of Abilene, daughter Julie and her husband Steven of Abilene; daughter-in-law Debra Everett of Salina; seven granddaughters Jordan Everett of Abilene, Brooke Everett of Billings, Montana, Sydney Everett and Emilee Everett of Salina, Kansas, Shannon Young of Abilene, Michelle Young of Abilene, Ashley Boyd of Edmond, Oklahoma, one grandson Hugh Boyd of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two brothers Dennis and his wife Doreen Everett and Ronald and his wife Jeannie all of Abilene.
Funeral services for Gerald will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene with Reverends John & Jenny Collins. Gerald’s final resting place will be in the Abilene Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of choice and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
