Paul R. Bethe, 98, of Salina, passed away December 9, 2017. He was born July 16, 1919 in Elmo Kansas.
He was married to Cleda (Swisher) Bethe on July 16, 1942.
Paul served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He was in the 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He fought many battles in Germany in WWII including D-Day & the Battle of the Bulge.
He was preceded in death by his wife Cleda, parents, Charles Bethe and Juanita (Rucas) Bethe; daughter, Sally Schmidt; brother, Don Bethe; and a great grand-daughter Sarah McBride.
Survivors include his two daughters, Connie Wiechen and husband Bill (Dec.), and Mary Rains and husband Roy; a son Jim Bethe and wife Vicki; a son-in law Mike Schmidt; brother Dean Bethe and wife Arvetta; 11 grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2-7pm at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina. Family will receive friends from 5-7pm.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Gypsum United Methodist Church at 524 King St. Gypsum, Kansas. Burial to follow at Gypsum City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The United Methodist Church of Gypsum and/or Kindred Hospice, McPherson.
