Thomas D. “Tom” Stauffer

SOLOMON — Thomas D. “Tom” Stauffer, 70, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017. He was born Nov. 12, 1947, in Salina, to Harleigh “Dean” and Ida “Faye” (Creason) Stauffer.

Tom graduated from Salina High in 1965 and entered the Army in 1967. He served in Vietnam and was a proud member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade “The Sky Soldiers.” After returning from Vietnam, Tom was married to Patsy Jo Myers. Tom worked at Exide for almost 20 years as a truck driver and farmed with his father, then sons, in the Saline County area his entire life. Tom had a passion for family, hunting, and farming.

Tom is survived by: his wife, Patsy; sons, Shawn Thomas Stauffer (Matilda), and Jesse Dean Stauffer; siblings, Patricia Davis (Jerry), Deanna Peacock (Roland), Loretta Shelton (Robert), Kathy Meylan (Daniel), and Scott Stauffer (Diana); and sister-in-law, Sharrel Otte.

He was preceded by his parents, Dean and Faye.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the First Church of the Nazarene, with burial to follow in Donmyer Cemetery, New Cambria.
