Dwayne O. Miller, 89, of Sterling, passed away January 4, 2018 at Heritage Villa in Bartlesville, OK. He was born November 28, 1928 in Grenola, KS, the son of Oscar and Sarah (Dorsey) Miller. Dwayne graduated from Elk County High School in Howard, KS, and Salt City Business School in Hutchinson. He had resided in Sterling since 1950, formerly of Howard, KS. Dwayne worked for Bartlett-Settle-Edgerly as a public accountant for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #171, Eastern Star, and the American Legion, all of Sterling. Dwayne served in the United States Army from January 10, 1949 to October 10, 1951. On June 6, 1953, Dwayne was united in marriage with Virginia Drake in rural Sterling. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Johnnie and Charles Miller; four sisters, Lola King, Lodean Lauffer, Rosie Gray, and Ellen Curtis. He is survived by his daughter, Christine and Dallas Smith of Russell, KS; son, Terry and Debbie Miller of Bartlesville, OK; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Austin and Shelby Smith. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 8, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling with Pastor Dale Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson with military honors. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling and from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 8, 2018 at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling with family present. Memorials can be made to the Sterling American Legion in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
