Clara “Jane” Valcoure, 75, of Salina, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. She was born Sept. 29, 1942 in Downs, to James L. and Florence H. (Lavery) Stephenson. She married James N. Valcoure, Sept. 8, 1962, at St. Peter’s Church, Aurora.
She graduated from Downs High School in 1960 and attended Fort Hays State University. Following college, she worked at St. John’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Grade School and Kansas Wesleyan University. She volunteered at the Catholic Diocese and was booster of the year at Sacred Heart High School.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 55 years, Jim; sons, Greg Valcoure (Tracy) and Mike Valcoure (Theresa); daughter Chelle Fleming (Dave); eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six great-step-grandchildren; brother Bill Stephenson (Gloria); brothers-in-law, Bill Valcoure (Lisa), Paul Valcoure (Mary Beth), and John Valcoure; sister-in-law, Ruth Reynolds; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; and brother-in-law, Duane Reynolds.
Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church with co-celebrants, Fr. Luke Thielen and Fr. Mark Wesely. Inurnment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
