Edgar Amos “Ed” Smith, 81, of Salina, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. He was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Muncy, Pa., to Benton and Elizabeth (Schenk) Smith. He married Marita Mae Hertel, Jan. 5, 1963, in Salina. Ed worked as a printer for School Specialty for many years.
Survivors include: his wife, Marita; children, Doug Smith (Donna), Teresa Brown (David), and Brad Smith (Tammy); grandchildren, Quinton Smith, Cameron and Haley Brown, Megan Adamson, and Dalton Smith; siblings, Peggy Gibson, Phyllis Prytula (Mike), and Ned Smith (Sandy); and one niece and three nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Benton H. Smith, Jr.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, with the family receiving friends 6-8 p.m., and vigil service at 7, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 118 N. 9th, Salina, with inurnment in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Solomon.
Memorial contributions may be given to: Sacred Heart Cathedral, or Hospice of Salina, in care of the mortuary.
