Sharon K. (Etienne) Merola, 60 of Abilene passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Enterprise Estates Nursing Home in Enterprise. She was born April 28, 1957 in Louisville, Kansas, the daughter of Howard Bernard and Laviolette (Dishmann) Etienne. On June 23, 2001 she was united in marriage to Alan Merola in Abilene, Kansas. Sharon worked at the Diamond Hotel in Abilene for 20 years. She later worked at the Alco warehouse in Abilene and worked as a dietitian Village Manor. Sharon is survived by her loving husband Alan of the home. One daughter, Sherry Etienna of Abilene. Two grandchildren, Nathan Furrer and Mariah Furrer both of Abilene. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Terry Etienne.
Sharon’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5-7 P.M., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Sharon Merola Memorial Foundation to be decided by the family at a later time.
