Dunlap – Margaret (Meg) Elizabeth Wirsig, 90, of Dunlap, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 9th at her home.
She was born December 8, 1927 in Dunlap to E. William Edwards and Mary (McConnell) Edwards. She graduated from Dunlap High School in 1945, and in 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Harry Wirsig.
When her children were small, Margaret was a homemaker and mother, but as her children grew up, she took a job outside the home at Crawford Manufacturing. Later, she was the bookkeeper for the TG&Y store in Emporia. After leaving TG&Y, she never again worked a job that took her away from her family. She, instead, used her time to care for her family, her garden, and her home. In earlier years, she enjoyed playing cards and attending dances with Harry. She loved puzzles of all kinds and could solve nearly any kind of crossword. Margaret was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers, Glenn, Francis and Willie; a son-in-law, Ray Beals, and a granddaughter, Sally Anderson Colbert.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Kathy Beals, Emporia; daughter, Sherry Anderson and husband, Kurtis, Dodge City; son, Gary Wirsig and wife Doreen, Lawrence; son Gene Wirsig and wife, Tammi, Emporia; and son Bill Wirsig and wife, Jane of Dunlap; 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; 1great great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be at 6:30 P.M., Friday, January 12th. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 13th. Both services will be at St. Rose Church in Council Grove, Kansas. Interment will be at Dunlap Cemetery.
