Earlene M. “Penny” Ayers

Earlene M. “Penny” Ayers, 89, of Salina, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor. She was born in Atlantic, Iowa, Aug. 22, 1928, to Earl and Estella (Novis) Conn. She married Dallas Ayers, Dec. 1, 1951.

Penny worked as a clerk for the district court, city of Salina, water department and city manager’s office, as well as the Saline County Police Department, tag office. She was a member of First Ladies at Sunflower Bank and was an active bowler.

Survivors include: her son, Dallas Ayers (Kathy); son-in-law, Rob “Buck” Barkley; grandchildren, Kelly Gardinier (DeeDee), Abbi Hodges (Steve), and Ryan Ayers (Ashley) all of Salina, and Trace Ayers (Audra) of Brookville; five great- grandchildren; and close family friends, Willie and Kim Vidricksen, of Salina.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; children, Christy Hartman and Tanna Barkley; and great-grandson, Mason Hodges.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Ryan Mortuary with Ethan Feistner as officiant, with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina, to will follow.
