Francis J. Komarek, 79, of Salina, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. He was born March 25, 1938, in Salina, to John and Mary Komarek.
Francis graduated from Bavaria High School in 1956 and earned his bachelor of science degree from Kansas State University in 1961. Francis retired from SCS-NRCS as a civil engineer in 1992. Francis was a member of NARFE, served on the Saline County conservation board, and was a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming with his family on their farm west of Salina and spending time with friends.
Francis married Linda Hamilton, Oct. 15, 1983. Francis was a devoted husband, loving father, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
He is survived by: his son, James F. Komarek (Emily) of Salina; brother, John A. Komarek; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Linda Komarek; sisters, Gertrude Kohn, and Mary Frances Staab.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with the family receiving friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina. Interment will follow in the Bavaria Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of Salina, or Bavaria Cemetery, in care of the mortuary.
