Rev. Dr. Stanley C. Rogge

The Rev. Dr. Stanley C. Rogge, Salina, 86, died Feb. 10, 2018 after a lengthy illness and many heart attacks since May 1976. He was born Aug. 19, 1931, the son of Chris and Sarah (Dammon) Rogge.

Pastor Rogge attended school at Linn, KS, where he lettered in four sports, and was valedictorian of his class. He graduated from Midland College, Fremont, NE; and was president of the student body at Central Seminary, Fremont, NE. He was awarded a Masters of Divinity from Chicago Seminary (ELCA); and a Dr. of Divinity from Bethany College, Lindsborg. Pastor Rogge and Jane retired in 1999 and moved to a little horse farm in McAlester, OK. In 2004, he, Jane and their Aussie and Daushunds moved back to Salina to be closer to family and medical facilities.

Pastor Rogge served the following Lutheran Churches: St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bendena, KS, Grace Lutheran, Lincoln, NE, 1st Lutheran, Nebraska City, NE. and St. John’s Lutheran, Salina. He answered the call from the church (LCA, ELCA) to do home mission work in Missouri and Arkansas where he organized four congregations in Fayetteville and Rogers, AK, Peace Lutheran, Hollister and Eagle Rock Lutheran, Eagle Rock, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Jane A. (Wilson), of the home; six children, Sara Espinosa Crum (Galen), Tampa, Janice Baucom (John), McALester, Ok, William Rogge (Julie), Salina, Dana McCain (Mark), Grand Junction, Co, Martha Rogge, Olathe, and Matthew Rogge (Ariella), Mountain Fall, CO. He has 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one brother, James Rogge, Kansas City. He is also survived by a sister in law, Emma Lou Day (Glen), Brea, CA and a brother in law, Don Jolley, Marion.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at the Assaria Lutheran Church, Assaria, KS. Interment will be at 2:30 pm that day in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary, Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. that evening.

Memorials are suggested to the Assaria Lutheran Benevolence Fund.
