Mary “Maxine” Fiedler

Mary “Maxine” Fiedler, 96, passed away Saturday, February 17th, in Enterprise. She was born January 14, 1922 in Ogden, the daughter of Edgar and Mary (Smith) Taylor. Growing up in Dwight and Enterprise, Mary attended local schools and graduated from Enterprise High School with the class of 1940. On May 28, 1944 she was married to Norris Dean Fiedler. Most all of their married life was spent in Enterprise. She had been employed by Froelich Grocery, Ehrsam Manufacturing and Alco until retiring in 1992. Norris preceded her in death August 22, 1984. Mary was a member of the Abilene First United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; four sisters, Ruth Wood, Dorothy Gish, Marjorie Jones, Mildred Longbine and brother, Rev. Richard Taylor.
She is survived by: son, Gary (Judie) Fiedler of Enterprise; daughter, Jan (Bob) Johnston of Georgetown, Texas; five grandchildren, Steve (Christen) Johnston, Anne (Bill) Price, Steffani (Michael) Tomson-DeGreeff, Brandon (Becky) Tomson, Rachael McGuire; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary requested cremation. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 24th, at the Abilene First United Methodist Church with Reverends John Collins and Michael Tomson-DeGreeff officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Abilene First United Methodist Church. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
