Betty Marie Harkrader, 80, of Lyons, passed away February 20, 2018 at Hutchinson Regional Hospital, Hutchinson. She was born March 30, 1937 in Lyons, the daughter of Juan “John” and Isidra (Ramirez) Barrientos. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1957, and later received her LPN license from McPherson College. Betty has been a lifelong Lyons resident. She was a homemaker and a home health care nurse. Betty was a member of United Methodist Church, Lyons; life member of the Lyons VFW; and formerly served as the committee chairman for the Boy Scout Troop 101. On September 26, 1970, Betty was united in marriage with Ronald Harkrader in Lyons. He survives of the home. She is also survived by her son, Greg and Jaime Harkrader of Manhattan, KS.; brother, Louis Barrientos of Broomfield, CO; four sisters, Carol Palacioz of Lyons, Beatrice Rau of Lyons, Isabel Cadena of Lyons, and Odelia Avila of Wichita, KS.; and grandson Jacob Harkrader. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joe and Daniel Barrientos; and sister, Frances Barrientos. Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 2, 2018 at United Methodist Church, Lyons with Pastor Kim Shank officiating. Burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Memorials can be made to the Lyons Kiwanis for the preservation and restoration of the Scout Cabin in care Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
