vet_ffffff2522052Jerry L. Underwood, 77, Bennington, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. He was born May 25, 1936 in Agra to Harvey and Fern (Cottril) Underwood.

Jerry worked for Evans Grain for many years, managing the Bennington Elevator.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn of the home; three children Kathy Loe and husband Delmar of Beloit, Sandra Stacken and husband Rod of Concordia, and Rick Underwood and his fiancé Cari McHenry of Overland Park; three grandchildren Kyle Stacken and fiancé Chrissy Feriend, Justin Richter and wife Anne, and Adam Richter and wife Kathleen; two great-grandsons Jack and Matt Richter; and one great-granddaughter due in July; sister Peggy Gale and husband Loren; brother Ron Underwood and wife Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 15 at the Bennington Bible Church with Pastor Todd Burrow officiating. Burial will be in the Bennington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bennington Bible Church.

dennis-schmitt-obituaryDennis Neil Schmitt, 53, of Salina, Kansas, died surrounded by people who loved him, Monday, May 12th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Dennis was born in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado on September 6, 1960, to Kathleen (Weed) and Alan Schmitt.

On November 8, 2011, Dennis married Michelle Delicano in Salina.

Survivors include, his parents; wife, Michelle Schmitt of the home; brothers, Leonard Schmitt and wife Kay, of Salina, Kansas, Brian Schmitt and wife Joane of Gypsum, Kansas; nieces, Angela Schmitt of Overland Park, Kansas, Jessica Bender and husband David of Pratt, Kansas, and Carolyn Schmitt of Manhattan, Kansas; nephews, Michael Pope of Manhattan, Kansas, Joseph Pope of Salina, Kansas; great-niece Samara Bender of Pratt, Kansas; Special Friends, Youngmi Byun and Malyiah Finch, of Lawrence, Kansas; and Sung Byun of Thailand. He is also survived by many friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Mildred Weed, and Marjorie and Leonard Schmitt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 16th, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hope Lodge for cancer patients. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.
