Royce L. Morgan, age 92, of South San Francisco, California entered into rest on March 3, 2018 at his home.
Known as RL to friends and family and was born in Plainville, Kansas to Ruie and U G Morgan. He graduated from local schools and attended St Joseph Military Academy before entering the Navy. He was in the submarine service in the Philippines as a Radioman during WWII. While in the Naval Reserve during the Korean War he was assigned to a destroyer at Treasure Island. It was there that he met and married Florence Calonico.
RL was an alumnus of Kansas University. He retired from Pacific Bell as a Network Engineer.
RL was a 50-year member of the San Francisco Power Squadron, several Ham Radio clubs, K6ENU, Retired Telephone Co clubs, VFW Post 4103, Nebraska American Legion and Telephone Pioneers. He was a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed traveling to family and ship reunions plus Plainville High School gatherings. He always remembered his school and college classmates. He lived through the Kansas dust storms and learned how to keep going through any hard times. RL was a kind and thoughtful man with high standards.
RL is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence, two sons, Laurence and Bruce, daughters-in-law Estrellita and Karen, grandchildren Thomas, Antonius, Aurelius, Aemilius, Dr Lauren O’Connor, one great granddaughter, sister-in-law Rosemarie Calonico, sister Lowanna Morgan, nephew Jim Fausset, niece Julie Handley and her two children.
Viewing will be on Friday, March 9 from 3-5 pm at Garden Chapel, 885 El Camino Real, South San Francisco, CA with burial in the Morgan Family plot Hollis, Kansas on March 14, 2018 at 1 pm.
Graveside Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Hollis Cemetery, Hollis, Kansas with the Pastor Scott Tempero officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-12 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Kansas. Family and friends will gather at the Hollis Cemetery for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. American Legion Post #76 of Concordia will conduct Military Honors at the Graveside.
