
Arlen was a 1973 graduate of Concordia High School.
He served in the United States Army from 1974-1980 and was honorably discharged.
He married Peggy Hale and they later divorced. He then married Cindy Adkins Ruane in Concordia, Kansas and she preceded him in death.
Arlen was a laborer in the Concordia community where he worked in a variety of jobs.
He loved to fish, oldies rock music, being outdoors and most of all spending time with his beloved family.
Arlen is survived by his 2 sons, Curtis Appleby (Tracy), Scandia, KS.; Jason Appleby (Amber), White City, KS.; sister, Marsha Smith, Glasco, KS.; 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cindy, sister, Cynthia Appleby.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later time in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Ames, Kansas.
