vet_ffffffevi40629Johnny Lee Evilsizer, otherwise known as “Big John Evil” died June 29, 2014. He was born on June 10, 1957 on American soil in Frankfurt, Germany and traveled abroad and stateside with his dad, mom and siblings until they settled in Salina in 1973 where he attended Salina Central.

He went on to serve in the US Navy on the USS Lawe before returning to Salina to settle down. He started at ElDorado National on May 5, 1993 while still continuing to do side jobs helping friends and neighbors. In 1998, he married his wife, Barbara, bought a home in Marquette and spent the last 16 years raising their daughter, Natasha, being involved in church, school and multiple community activities.

John was well liked and loved by the many lives he touched. He is most often described as loyal, hard working, an honorable, “stand up” kind of guy; a man who lived by his own code of ethics and morals and he was solid as a rock. He is deeply loved and missed and will remain forever in the hearts of his family and loved ones.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Barb; his daughter, Tasha; his parents, Joseph and Ursula Evilsizer; his older brother, Winfred; his younger brother, Richard (Louann) and sister, Sandra.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial will be in the Marquette Cemetery. Visitiation will be Thursday, July 3, from 4 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Brookdale Hospice or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

vet_ffffffLITTLETON, Colo. - Don Butcher, 82, of Littleton, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Salina, Kan., where he grew up.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 60 years and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He retired after a long career with the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina, with Pastor Tim Holgerson officiating. Fort Riley will provide military honors.

The family suggests memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Ryan Mortuary.

Susan Elaine (Rich) Halcomb, 66, of Salina, went to meet the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2014. She was born July 1, 1947, in Cornwall, N.Y., the daughter of Archibald and Mildred (Smith) Rich.

Susan worked as a CNA in numerous nursing homes in Salina.

She is survived by one daughter, Kim Wallace; one son, James Halcomb; and one brother, Bruce Rich.

There will be a memorial service at 5 p.m. today at Salina Baptist Church, 11th and Prescott, in Salina.

Memorials may be made to the family.
