Emiliano “Emil” P. Lopez, 89, Salina, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 29, 2018, at home surrounded by family. Emiliano was born March 24, 1929, in Binmaley, Pangasinan, Philippines, to Hospicia and Hilario Lopez.
Emiliano and his family moved to Salina from Quezon City in 1971. He was a Civil Engineer for Wilson and Company from 1965 to 1994, spending a significant amount of time in Saudi Arabia. His passions were his family, his immense garden, bowling league, crosswords, fishing and golf.
Surviving family members include his children: Emilie Lopez Hudson, Overland Park; Romeo Lopez, Independence, MO; Emiliano (Larry) Lopez, Salina; Juliet Lopez, Glendale, CA; Alicia Lopez Westerlage, Dickinson, TX; Loida Lopez Ruth, Plainfield, IL; Danny Lopez, Tulsa, OK. Grandchildren: Tiffany Lopez Lee, Alex Hudson, Leandra Hudson Gabrielson, Shawna Hudson Bernath, Anthony Lopez, Anna Lopez, Hannah Westerlage, Laura Westerlage, Kelli Westerlage, Peyton Ruth, Madison Ruth and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth Lopez on April 5, 2018; his parents; and five of his eleven siblings.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 1, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where a vigil service and rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M. Graveside services to celebrate Emil’s life will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 2, at Roselawn Cemetery, Salina. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Kindred Hospice of McPherson and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
