Thelma Maxine (Peterson) Sahlfeld

Thelma Maxine (Peterson) Sahlfeld, daughter of John H. and Bernice (Knowlton) Peterson, was born July 11, 1924 in Jewell, KS and departed her life May 5, 2018 at the age of 93.

Her parents moved to Randall, KS, and it was there that she spent her young childhood years attending grade school and high school, graduating with the class of 1942.

She moved to Beloit after graduation, holding various jobs, until her marriage to Paul Sahlfeld, August 12, 1947, spending their life on a farm northeast of Beloit, KS until 1960 when they moved to Beloit. She worked as a cook at St. John’s cafeteria for 15 years before retiring.

Thelma loved to sew, cook, play cards, and be with family. Family was very important to her as well as her catholic faith. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church; St. John’s Ladies Guild, and the V.V.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1996, daughter Trudy Germain in 2014 and by her parents Mr. and Mrs. John H. Peterson, brothers Herman, Carol, Roland, Damon, and twin brothers Elmer and Elmin (who died in infancy) sister Wilma Donker.

She leaves behind five of the most wonderful children, whom she dearly loved. Mrs. Paulette and (Randy) McClintock; Mrs. Brenda and (Earl) Bonebrake; Mr. Perry and (Bea) Sahlfeld; and Mr. Bryan and (Melissa) Sahlfeld; 8 precious grandchildren Kara and (Mike) Riemann, Jerrin and (Brianne) Heiman, Brandie Cox, Joel and (Rachel) Germain, Scott and (Megan) Bonebrake, Kayla Bonebrake, Braden Sahlfeld, Baxter and (Kenzie) Sahlfeld and 2 step-grandchildren Ryan and (Lisa) McClintock and Amanda and (Peter) Shay, and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be at 11 AM Tuesday, May 8 at the St. John’s Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 6 PM Monday at the Church, & visitation will be from 1-4 PM Monday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
