

Basil attended the Como grade school and graduated from Clyde High School in 1965, and attended Fort Hays State University.
Basil was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 – 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1968.
Basil married Connie Dreiling on June 21, 1969 in Plainville, Kansas. They enjoyed almost 49 years of marriage.
Basil worked at the local CO-OP Elevator, Pruser Electric, CE Manufacturing, B&W Electric, and owned and operated Tate Electric for 30 years. He retired from the maintenance department at Park Villa Nursing Home in Nov. of 2015.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1999 as Grand Knight for 4 years, 4th Degree Bishop Thill Assembly as Faithful Navigator for 2 years, American Legion Post #227, Clifton.
He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and especially visiting friends and family, most of all his 8 grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Connie of the home in Clyde; 3 daughters, Lisa Wunderle, (Mont), Clifton; Lori Bulleigh (Jeff), Clyde; Leah Cook (Mike), Clyde.; 7 sisters, Margaret Nobert, Madeline Lambert, Loretta Koch (Dean), Johnita Crawford (Mickel) all of Clyde, Michelle Brooks (Del), Manhattan; Polly Silinskas, Pittsburgh, PA.; Jane Couture (Carroll) Belleville; a brother, Donnie Tate, Concordia; 8 grandchildren, Kelly, Montana, and Stacy Wunderle, Matthew, Lucas, Zachary and Thomas Bulleigh, Quinn Cook; sisters-in-law, Mary Leeson (Ron), Linn; Carol Vignery (Ron), Wellsville; Joan Dobson (Larry), Plainville; Lynnae Boedeker (Al), Hays; Kathy Dreher, Hays; Denise Ganoung (Randy), Plainville.
He was preceded in death by parents, Mitchell and Alma Tate, brother, Thad Tate, father/mother-in-law, Virgil and Hilda Dreiling, 4 brothers-in-law, Jim Nobert, Harold Lambert, Ron Silinskas, and Rick Dreher.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 1-4 pm at Chaput Mortuary in Clyde. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Fr. Steven Heina officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde with Military honors by Clyde VFW #7515.
