Vera Rosetta Walton

Vera Rosetta Walton, 91, died May 16, 2018, at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, where she has been a resident for 6 years. Vera was born March 29, 1927, near Leoti, Kansas. She was the youngest child of Samuel and Dora Wing. On June 6, 1948, she married Joseph Walton. Their 3 children are Dot (Steve) LeClerc, Hays, Kansas, Norma (Wesley) Ooms, El Paso, Illinois, and Roger (Susan) Walton, Arlington, Texas. Vera has 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, stretching from Anchorage, Alaska, to Arlington, Texas, to Budapest, Hungary. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, all 10 of her siblings, her husband, and one great grandson. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M., Saturday, May 26th at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling, with the service following at 11:00 A.M. Vera’s son-in-law, Pastor Wesley Ooms and Pastor Kendal Connor, the chaplain at the nursing home, will officiate. A private family burial will be at Sterling Community Cemetery. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Sterling Presbyterian Manor for the sweet, loving care Mom received. Memorials can be made to Sterling Presbyterian Manor and Rice County Thrift Shop in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
