Ila Gale Kennedy, 76, of Salina, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, from complications brought on by multiple myeloma cancer. Ila was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Lincoln, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel H. and Florence L. (Mays) Donley.
Ila dedicated her life to raising her five children. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, and was always ready for adventure. She had a passion for fashion and took great joy in helping her customers at various retail clothing stores in Salina. In 2010, she retired from Dillards after 20-plus years.
After retirement, her joy of gardening led her to get her Master Gardner Certificate from K-State Research and Extension. Ila made friends wherever she went and according to her close friends she was “fun, fun, fun!”
She was a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and a graduate of Brown Mackie College.
She is survived by her five children, Kathryn Weaver, of Hugoton, Kansas, Maureen Kennedy-Antonellis (Michael), of Middletown, Rhode Island, Colleen Velez (Milton), of Topeka, Kansas, Kevin Kennedy, of New York City, and Joseph Kennedy (Janice), of Overland Park, Kansas; two sisters, Phyllis Engelbert, of Salina, and Neva Rathbun (Leon) of Terry, Montana; two brothers, Walter Donley, of Lincoln, Kansas, and Dwight Donley (Bonnie), of Beloit, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arnold Donley; sister, Melba Murphy; and a grandson, Daniel Weaver.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401. A vigil and rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, with Father Barry Brinkman as celebrant. Burial will be the Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Salina Community Theater Association or K-State Research and Extension, Central Kansas District, Salina (Master Gardner Program), in care of the mortuary.

Dylan Craig Perney, of Salina, was born March 17, 1976, and passed away too soon at the age of 38 on July 31, 2014, from heart surgery complications.
Dylan graduated from Salina Central High School in 1994. He earned a degree in religion and philosophy from Bethany College and a master’s degree in ancient world history from Emporia State.
Dylan worked at Salina Vortex as a programmer for the CNC milling machines. He was a member of Quivera Gun Club. He was involved in Civil War and World War II re-enactment. He was a former board member of the Smoky Hill Museum.
Dylan loved guns, bacon, skittles, the outdoors, books, history, bad movies, sci-fi, boogers, bad puns, role-play games and just talking to people. He married Teri Rademacher on April 5, 2003, in Salina. He enjoyed his work and lived his life well.
He is survived by his parents, Abner and Kathryne Perney, of Salina; wife, Teri Perney, of Salina; brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Bai Perney, of Lakewood, Colo.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Cindy Rademacher, of Tecumseh, Neb.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Laura Rademacher, of Tecumseh, Neb.; two nieces; one nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends (whom he loved like family).
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Blue Heaven Studios, 201 S. Eighth (corner of Eighth and Walnut), Salina. Please dress casually as Dylan would want everyone to be comfortable.
Arrangements by Ryan Mortuary. There will be no viewing. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a Dylan Perney Memorial Fund has been established at Sunflower Bank, Salina. The family will determine the use of these funds at a later date.
