David Mark Zey, 55 of Abilene passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Memorial Hospital. He was born November 10, 1962 in Abilene, the son of Joe and Donna (Johnston) Zey. David grew up in the Abilene area and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1981. He attended Kansas State University after graduating from high school. David was co-owner of Zey’s Market with his brother Robert. On June 30, 1990 he was united in marriage to Mary Connell at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. David was a member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
David is survived by his loving wife Mary of the home. Four daughters: Elizabeth Baier (Jon) of Solomon, Sarah Riordan (Luke) of Salina, Katherine Zey and Anna Zey of the home. His parents: Joe and Donna Zey. Four brothers: John Zey (Joyce) of Topeka, Robert Zey (Vicki) of Abilene, Rick Zey (Donna) of Salina, Steve Zey (Kris) of Papillion, Nebraska. Also survived are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Fr. Peter O’Donnell as Celebrant and Fr. Abraham Panthalanickal as concelebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Abilene. Parish Rosary will be 6:00 P.M., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. Family will receive friends following at the Parish Hall. The family suggests memorials be given to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church or the Hospice of Dickinson County. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
