Velma Edna Wilder passed away on June 23, 2018 at the Leonardville Nursing Home at the age of 93. Velma was born October 2, 1924 on the family farm that was homesteaded by her Great Grandfather northeast of Green. She was the youngest daughter of Winters and Ethel (Bushell) Hugunin.
She graduated from Green High School in 1941. At the age of 16 she taught at the country schools Marine, Derger and May Day. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being outside to help with all of the farm activities.
She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church. She married James Wilder on May 13, 1944, and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1998. She was also preceded by a Daughter Vickie Sue, Son Kent, Grandson Douglas, Great Granddaughter Jewel, 2 Brothers and 4 Sisters.
Survivors include a Son, David Wilder and Wife Delrene, Daughter-in-law Kathy Wilder all of Clay Center. Four Grandchildren, Angela (Corey) Champlin, Jacalyn (Jeff) Fears, Karla (Nick) Fickes, Kyle (Crysi) Wilder. Twelve Great Grandchildren, Chase, Alec (Jordan), Alyssa, Brandon, Aidan, Katherine, Logan, Jenna, Sabrina, James, Isabel and Oliver. One Great Great Grandson Coen.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery with Herb Mugler officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 3-8 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
