Alvin Gilbert Brooks

Alvin Gilbert Brooks, 83, of rural Clyde, KS, passed away on July 4, 2018 at his home. He was born October 4, 1934 in Rural Clyde, KS to Glen Brooks and Marvel (Pickard) Brooks.

He grew up in the Clyde area attending school and graduating from Clyde High School. Following his schooling, he began farming and was a cattleman along with being a carpenter, plumber, electrician, handyman, and heavy equipment operator.

On June 7, 1954 he was united in marriage to Rodene Trimble. The couple made their home in rural Clyde, KS.

He loved to play cards. He loved his Cushman scooters, his 32-Ford, and his kids and grandkids and great grandkids. 

Alvin was a member of the National Cushman Club and the Dust Devils Racing Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-Marjorie Sharpe, brother-in-law-Gene Trimble, and loved nephew-Gary Headley.
Survivors include his wife, Rodene Trimble Brooks of Rural Clyde, KS.
Sons: Wayne (Jackie) Brooks, Winfield KS, Del (Michelle) Brooks, Manhattan, KS
Daughters: Carol Brooks Simoneau, Derby, KS and Alvi Brooks Bowman, Wichita, KS; 8 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Headley; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation was selected and graveside memorial services and inurnment will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, rural Clyde, KS.
A luncheon and reception will follow the services on Saturday at the V.F.W. in Clyde, KS.
No visitation is planned at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Alvin G. Brooks Memorial to be determined later.
