Jane Dixon, 81, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Council Grove Assisted Living.
Jane was born on April 20, 1937, on a farm in rural Wilsey, Kansas, to A. Ray Miller and Erva L. Harmon Miller. She attended Central Grade School Dist. 2 and graduated from Wilsey Rural High School in 1955.
Along with her role as a homemaker, she worked at the Morris County Welfare Office and Morris County Hospital in the early 1960s, She was a bookkeeper for Ingmire Plumbing and Heating from 1978-1983, and a bookkeeper for the Council Grove Telephone Company from 1983-1989. Jane was known for her love of decorating cakes. She kept up correspondence with her pen pal Mary Lou Miller from 1946 until 2018.
Jane was a past member of Council Grove Christian Church, and more recently was a member of the Wilsey Christian Church. Jane held memberships with the Daughters of the American Revolution, Morris County Historical Society, and the Friends of Kaw Heritage, and was active in many other community activities.
Jane married Max Dixon on November 9, 1962, in Council Grove. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Others preceding her in death are her parents, sisters Ruth Putnam and Rebecca Miller, brothers Dale Miller and Kenneth Miller, and grandson Alex Ingram.
Surviving family members include her children Diane Ingram and husband Vaughn of McPherson, Kansas, Kathy Lamberson and husband Mark of Council Grove, Kansas, and Don Dixon and wife Stephanie of Little Elm, TX; stepson Max Dixon, Jr. and wife Darlena of Ogden, UT; daughters-in-law Jean Jensen of Salem, OR and Julie Cornelison of Bountiful, UT; five grandchildren, Shanda, Philip, Olivia, Paul, and Luke; and four great-grandchildren, Kie, Adrianna, Evelyn, and Weslon.
There will be a visitation at the Wilsey Christian Church in Wilsey on Sunday, July 8, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Wilsey Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9. Jane will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Council Grove.
