Jose Navarro Orozco, born January 7, 1925 and died July 8, 2018. He was born in Kanopolis, Kansas and raised in Atotonilquillo, Jalisco, Mexico returning to Kanopolis in his early 20s leaving his family in Mexico.

His parents Eleuterio, Prajedes and Step-Mother Refrigio and brother Alphonso, sisters Maria, Carmen, Dolores and Soccoro all preceding him while, Timoteo, Valentin, Margarita, Teresa and Eleuterio have survived him. He was married to Rosa Cisneros (now deceased) for 65 years and together raised 14 children: Mary; Joseph (Deana, deceased); Jesse; Tomas; Peter (Bonnie); Olivia (Reggie Taylor); Rosa Elena (Edd Starnes); Alphonso; Theresa (Mario Trujillo); Consuelo (Paul Byer); Phyllis; Graciela (Godofredo Herrera); Christopher (Kelly) and Gabriel. As a result of these children he was graced with 31 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren plus many stepchildren and those whom they helped raise.

He worked for 40 years in the salt mines of Kanopolis as a powder man, blowing the rooms to be mined. After retirement in 1987 he joined his wife in starting the Orozco’s Portales restaurant in Kanopolis. After the business was passed to his son Jesse, he continued to be an avid gardener and spend as much time outside as possible.

As a devote Roman Catholic he was an example of one who gave of his means, time and talent. Always volunteering for the Fiesta to set up booths or run them and later helped with making tamales and serving food. He set an example for all of us to follow. Thank you Daddy, Grandpa, Papa Grande, brother, Tio, Primo and father in law for showing us how it should be done. Love you always.
