Melva Marie Kaufman Boxberger, age 92, died Friday, July 13, 2018. She was born on the family farm, southwest of Wilson in Russell County, Kansas to Carl & Minnie (Borrell) Heinze on April 4, 1926 during a snow storm on Easter Sunday. She was brought to the house of God on May 2, 1926 for baptism at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson. Her sponsors were Marie Heinze & Edwin Borrell. She remained a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson. She was confirmed on May 29, 1939 by her uncle, The Reverend William J. Lind at Immanuel Church in Wilson.
On September 23, 1944 she was united in marriage to Lloyd K. Kaufman at Immanuel Church in Wilson. They made their home on the farm 5 miles south of Bunker Hill until 1995 when she moved to Wilson after the death of her husband on July 16, 1995. She maintained the family home and was involved in the many activities of a farm life. Four daughters were born to this union, Sharilyn Joleen, Carla June, LeAnne Fay and Brenda Gayle. On April 7, 2000 she was united in marriage to Frederick Boxberger at the Lutheran Church in Wilson. They lived on the Boxberger family farm. In November 2012, Fred & Melva moved to the assisted living in Russell. In July 2017, due to her failing health, she moved to Main Street Manor at the Russell Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl & Minnie Heinze, sister Elvera Goad, husbands Lloyd Kaufman and Frederick Boxberger, and son-in-laws Melvin Frimmel and Tom Soukup.
She is survived by four daughters Sharilyn (Donnie) Wilhelm, Carla Soukup, LeAnne (Frank) Hlaus, & Brenda (Wes) Buehler, grandchildren Craig (Diane) Frimmel, Troy (Stacey) Frimmel, Heather (Chadd) Stevenson, & Justin (Katlyn) Hlaus, great-grandchildren Cole Frimmel, Trenton (Diana) Frimmel, Jacob & Kendall Hlaus, & Hadley Paige Stevenson, & 4 step great-grandchildren Adam, Rosemary, Elizabeth & Carolyn, great-great grandchild Paxton Frimmel & 3 step great-great grandchildren Zoe, Haydon & Lynkon, sister Ellen Hanzlicek and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson. Interment will follow in the Wilson City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home in Wilson with family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00pm. Prayer Vigil will be Sunday at 7:00pm at the funeral home.
