Mary Ann Chambers, 88, of McPherson passed away, Friday, July 27, 2018 at The Cedars Nursing Home. Mary Ann was born February 9, 1930 in Lindsborg, KS to the late Ruben and Edith (Rasmussen) Spongberg. She married Joseph “Joe” W. Chambers on October 19, 1951 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg.
Mary Ann was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was active in bible study groups. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Women of ELCA, and the American Legion Post #140 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughters: Susan (Ron) Pihl, and Melinda (Dell) Reese; sons: Mike (Becky) Chambers, and Jeff (Susie) Chambers; brother-in-law: Warren Webster; sister-in-law: Marilyn Spongberg; grandchildren: Amanda Luttig, Michael (Jim Loader) Chambers, Derek (Amy) Pihl, Amber (John) Mattox, Jami (Chet) Buchman, Ty (Audrey) Reese, Nicholas (Caitlin) Chambers, Jessica (Nick) Bentley, Isaac (Jaycee) Chambers, and Connor Chambers; as well as 18 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe, sisters, Marlys Mattingly and Margaret Webster, and her brother Charlie Spongberg.
Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 1 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 320 N. Main St., Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Loren Mai officiating. Private family interment will take place prior to the funeral.
