Bessie Marie Sibley, 95 died July 31, 2018. She was born on January 10, 1923, the daughter of Phillip and Myrtle (Wood) Carney.
Bessie attended Garfield School and graduated from Lewis High School.
She married Gordon Sibley on December 25, 1942 in Wichita, KS. They made their home in Clay Center from 1969 to 1972 where she managed Green Gables Restaurant. She later worked as a custodian at the Wheaton, KS grade school. Bessie played piano and organ at the churches she attended in Onaga and Wheaton. Gordon and Bessie returned to Clay Center in 1997.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center where she served as Deacon, American Legion Auxiliary, former member of the Onaga Congregational Church, sang with the Silvertones and participated in the Westside Kitchen Band.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, four sisters, a granddaughter, Lisa Erickson and son-in law Robert Finkbiner.

Brother: Gale Carney of Kinsley, KS

Funeral Services: Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, KS

Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas
Visitation: Friday, August 3, 2018 from 4-7 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
