bre41030Lila Dean “Mickie” Breault, 88, of Salina, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014. She was born April 23, 1926, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Robert and Rega (Leach) Jenkins. She was a second-grade Catholic school teacher for 30 years.

She was a hospital, museum and church volunteer and enjoyed quilting, reading, playing cards, especially bridge, writing letters, traveling, gardening and taking drives in the country. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilcid (1990); her daughter, Rega Marie; a sister, Beverly Lonergan; and two cousins, June Luebcke and Sharon Schoehn.

She is survived by her son, Robert Breault, of Salina; her daughter, Rose Ann (John) Plummer, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; her grandchildren, Rachel Dankel, Rebecca Plummer, Matthew Plummer and Sarah Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Cameron Dankel and Renton, Emily and Micky Plummer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, where vigil services will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School, Salina, and Hospice of Salina.

vet_ffffffRobert L. “Bob” Zrubek, 74, of Salina, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014. Born on Dec. 6, 1939, he was the first-born child to Bernard and Esther (Hood) Zrubek, in Hays.

In his younger years, he loved roller skating and dancing. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. Bob enjoyed having a beer with his buddies and playing pool at various local taverns. He worked in residential/business painting and construction most of his life. He was a friend to all.

In 1961, he married Nancy Mahon and was graced with a daughter, Michelle. They later divorced.

In 1965, he married Loralie Howard and was gifted with another daughter, Lee Ann. After this marriage ended, Bob chose to live alone, and from then on enjoyed a very simple life.

Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Pickard, of Junction City, and Lee Ann Zrubek, of Baton Rouge, La.; brothers, Lyle Zrubek, of Hutchinson, Richard and wife Linda Zrubek, Larry and wife Ethel Zrubek, and David and wife Janice Zrubek, all of Salina; sisters, Lois Nash, of Clay Center, Iris and husband Jack Fulton, of Kerrville, Texas, Berneda and husband Duane Kippes, of Rose Hill, and Patty and husband Gary Werth, of Salina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Debra Sue; and sister-in-law, Nancy Zrubek.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Grand Avenue Methodist Church, Salina. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Tammy Walker Cancer Center, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Helen Marie (Spaeny) Zugg Jenkins, 66, of Salina, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014. She was born Jan. 8, 1948.

She leaves behind one brother, John Spaeny and wife Becky; four children, Angela Turner and fiancé Daniel Poague, Elizabeth Zugg, William Zugg and wife Abigail and Lawrence Zugg; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life picnic will be announced in the spring of 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist with expenses, and sent in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, or may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Doris L. Wyatt, 105, of Salina, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014. She was born February 12, 1909 in Lawrence, the daughter of Clyde L. and Maude (Young) Stewart.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 122 N. Eighth St., Salina. The family will receive friends the evening prior at Ryan Mortuary.
