vet_ffffffJohn V. Swiercinsky, 65, of Salina, went to be with his heavenly Father on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013. He was born Jan. 10, 1948, in Concordia, the son of L.T. and Ruth (Falk) Swiercinsky.

Started his education at Union Valley Country School and received his high school diploma from Belleville High School. Continued his education at Cloud County Community College. He served his country in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Later graduated from Kansas State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy.

He married Lois Meyer on Aug. 4, 1973, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, in Byron, Neb. John was an avid bridge player and received his Life Master. John considered himself as Bill Synder’s right-hand man. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salina and active in the United Methodist Men.

John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Swiercinsky; and his brother, Jim Swiercinsky.

John is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; two sons, Michael Swiercinsky and wife Stephanie, of Leonardville, and Thomas Swiercinsky, of Salina; one brother, Ken Swiercinsky and wife Karen, of Maple Hill; one grandchild, Paige Swiercinsky, of Leonardville; and multiple nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at First United Methodist Church, Salina.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. in Union Valley Cemetery, near Belleville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Salina Christian Academy and left in care of the mortuary.

Eulora “Lori” Allen, 88, of Salina, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor. She was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Salina, the daughter of Horace A. and Thelma J. Drawbaugh.

She was a 1946 graduate of Beloit High School, attended Marymount College and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1950. While in college she served as a secretary to Hugh Chittenden, minister of First Baptist Church in Salina, and followed him to Baptist Church in Ottawa at his request. In 1955, she started working for the Mobil Oil Co. for 22 years. After retiring in 1977, she married Don Allen on July 17. She was a member of AARP, Salina Community Theater Guild, Elks Ladies Golf, Salina Arts Center and First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don, on Jan. 18, 2013.

She is survived by one sister, Shirley Drawbaugh, of Salina.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 19, at Salina Presbyterian Manor Chapel.

Inurnment will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Salina Rescue Mission and left in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401.
