Michael-Milelr-1438699106Michael David Miller, 66, of Salina, passed away Monday, August 3rd, at Salina Regional Health Center, Kansas. Michael was born in El Dorado, on December 24, 1948, a son of the late Phyliss (Pennington) and George Miller. He was the owner and operator of ABC Pest Control in Salina. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He was the husband of Regina R. (Fuller) Miller. They were married July 22, 1967 in Hastings, Nebraska.

Survivors include his wife, Regina; a daughter, Stacey Schneider, of Salina; two sons Kevin Miller and wife, Charity of Salina; and Darrin Miller, of Salina; four sisters; Shirley Jensen and husband, John of Salina, Jayne Jaimes and husband, Mark of Piper, Pam Williams of Atchison and Dorotha Trouslot of Newton; grandchildren; Matthew, Afton, and Darby Miller; Dalen and Parker Miller; and Myranda and Leonard Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Phillip, Jerry, Jim, Pat, and Danny Miller; and sister, Lana Weberg.

Visitation will be held Thursday at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, in Salina on Friday, August 7, at 2:00 p.m. A light reception will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service, at the church. Burial will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon.

The family request that donation be made to the Salina Shriners, 200 E. Diamond Dr., Salina, Kansas 67401 or Children’s Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Rd., Kansas City, Kansas 64108.

Monty Wayne Parks, 58, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 11:28 a.m., Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 while in the company of family members, at McPherson Care Center. Arrangements are pending.

vet_ffffffHardy-Williams-1438688090Hardy L. Williams, Jr. “Junior”, 52, of McPherson, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Newton Medical Center, Newton, KS. He was a U.S. Army Sargent, serving in Desert Storm. He had lived in McPherson since 2001, formerly of Chapman, KS.

He was born on December 29, 1962, in Yale, Oklahoma, the son of Hardy Lee Williams, Sr. and Lou Ellen (Martin) Williams. On June 18, 1983, he was united in marriage to Karen J. Seibel at Conway, KS.

Survivors include: ten children, Johnathin Williams of Haysville, KS, Sande Williams (Shelly) of Manhattan, KS, Jolie Hale (Josh) of Rapid City, SD, Shayle Williams of Kansas City, MO, Kylee Strang (Kyle) of Colorado Springs, CO, Hardy Williams, III, of Great Lakes Naval Station, IL, Jade Williams of McPherson, KS, Macye Williams of McPherson, KS, Tawnie Williams of McPherson, KS, and Jesse Williams of McPherson, KS; three brothers, Tony Williams of Sterling, KS, Danny Williams, (Toni) of McPherson, KS, and Ronnie Williams (Robin) of Salina, KS; two sisters, Tracey Clark (Toby) of Pomona, KS and Pamela Benfer (Dwight) of Longford, KS; step-mother, Dorothy Williams of Longford, KS; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Fred Porter.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 7, 2015, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Military Honors. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to Disabled American Veterans in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.

Cora-Sorenson-1438697235Cora B. Sorenson, 60, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, surrounded by family at her home in McPherson. She was a paraprofessional at Lincoln Elementary School. She had been a McPherson resident since 2006, moving from Holcomb, KS.

Cora was born on September 11, 1954, in Marion, KS, the daughter of Leonard Franklin and Rosalie W. (Friesen) Klassen. She graduated from Marion High School, Marion, KS and attended Central College, McPherson, KS. On June 8, 1974, Cora was united in marriage to Donald D. Sorenson in Marion, KS.

Survivors include: her husband, Donald Sorenson of the home; four children, Kami VanCampen (Eric) of McPherson, KS, Kelly Sorenson (Annie) of McPherson, KS, Kelsie Jusko (Eric) of Hays, KS, and Keaton Sorenson of McPherson, KS; sister, Vickie Fisher (Marv) of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren, Parker VanCampen, Paisley VanCampen, Piper VanCampen, Lanay Grothen, and Cooper Sorenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at New Hope Evangelical Church with Rev. Jim Keil and Rev. Ken Schultz officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial donation designation will be established at a later time in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.

105625Gerald “Garry” L. Zerr, 64, of Herington, died Sunday, June 28th, 2015, at the Herington Hospital. He was born on Wednesday, December 6, 1950, at Quinter, Kansas, the son of Lawrence J. and Mary M. (Maurath) Zerr.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 15th, 2015, at Church of the Brethren, 6th & Grant, Quinter, KS, with Pastor Keith Funk officiating. The Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, assisting with cremation plans.

Mr. Zerr was parts manager for KanEquip of Herington. He graduated from Winona High School with the class of 1968. He and his wife Carole both enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his wife Carole of the home; a son Mark Zerr of Colby, KS; daughter Amy Davidson of Park, KS; step-son Blaine Buchholz of Quinter, KS; and four (4) step-daughters: Denise Billinger of Quinter, KS, Julie Tynon of Kansas City, MO, Carla Bujnoch of Van Vleck, TX, & Paula Wancura of WaKenney, KS. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Wasko, his twin brother Jerald “Jerry” Zerr, and brother Terrence Zerr all of Oakley, KS , a brother Leland Zerr of Great Bend, KS, and a brother Kenneth Zerr of Tribune, KS; nine (9) grandchildren; and six (6) great grandchildren.

Memorials to the American Heart Association; and may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.

William “Bill” Allen Ellis, 66, of Lindsborg, passed away August 3, 2015.

He was born November 24, 1948, the son of Floyd Eugene and ElDora (Lockhart) Ellis in Hawthorne, CA.

On April 4, 1971, Bill was united in marriage to Janis Scott in Roxbury, KS.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Ellis, step-father, Foster Busby, and brother, Eldon Ellis.

Bill leaves behind many loved ones including his wife, Janis Ellis of Lindsborg, mother, ElDora Busby of Lindsborg, sons: Chad Ellis of Galva, Chase Ellis of Lindsborg, Chandler “Chip” Ellis (Carrie) of Lindsborg, daughters: Chelsea Ellis (Erick Taskinen) of Lindsborg, Jaron Watkins (Brandon) of Lindsborg, brothers: Jere Ellis (Judy) of Lindsborg, Randall Ellis (Kaye) of McPherson, and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday August 6, from 4-7pm with family present from 6-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 7, at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Private family burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury.

Memorials may be designated for the Ellis family in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington, PO Box 386, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
