3275666_wlppLEOLA JOY JACKSON,died August 14, 2015 at Medicalodge in Clay Center, KS. She was born August 19, 1932 in Vining, Kansas, the daughter of Harlan and Kathleen (Stoffel) McKellips.

Leola grew up in the Vining and Clifton area. She attended Clifton High School. She married Melvin Lee Jackson and he preceded her on November 7, 2014. She worked as an aide and cook for Clifton Community Care, Inc. for 20 plus years. She raised English and French bulldogs. She was a member of the Clifton American Legion Auxiliary for 51 years, Past President of the Senior Center, and cooked for the Senior Center. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, John, and two sisters, Shirley Brunell and Deann McKellips.

Daughter: Vicky Richards, Clifton, KS
Daughter: Kathleen Thompson, Soldotna, AK

Sister: Norma Crays, Tobias, NE
Grandchildren: 11 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:30am at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Clifton, Kansas.

Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro.

Inurnment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Vining, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on September 12, 2015 from 9:30am until service time at the Turner Funeral Chapel.

GERTRUDE LARSON, 98 died August 14, 2015 at Reflection Living in Wichita, KS. She was born on May 16, 1917 in Washington County, KS, the daughter of Axel and Minnie (Wilson) Hammar. Gertrude was born near Brantford, KS in Washington County. She was married to Raymond Larson for the best 76 years of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Charlie Anderson and brother, Roy Hammar.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the Swedesburg First Lutheran Church, 2573 Meadowlark Rd, Clay Center, KS

Officiating the service will be Pastor Tom Sahl

Burial will be in the Swedesburg First Lutheran Cemetery, Clay County, KS

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 12 noon until service time at Swedesburg First Lutheran Church

C. DEAN GRANT, 78 died August 17, 2015 in Miltonvale, KS. He was born on February 2, 1937 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Marvin and Lecta (McKinney) Grant. Dean was raised in Iowa and Missouri. He married Wilma Stuck on January 4,1956. She preceded him in death in April 1997. Dean worked as a bus driver in the city of Chicago. He later pastored at churches in Bellevue, IL and Hallsville, MO. Dean then spent 22 years at Stockport, IA. He married Marcia Morey in November 1997. They moved to Miltonvale in 2000. Dean worked as the Public Relations Worker for the Society of Indian Missions. He attended the Miltonvale Bible Methodist Church and President of Moulton Camp for over 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, a sister and a grandchild

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, KS

Officiating the service will be Rev. David Mahin

Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Stockport, IA

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 5-7PM Thursday and 1-3PM Friday at F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church

Allyn David Swalley, 53 years, died August 15, 2015 in Lyons. He was born
September 13, 1961, in Lyons.
He was a resident on Lyons.
He is survived by Sister, Shawnee Leet, husband Richard of Hutchinson; Brother,
Floyd Swalley, wife Rhonda of Nowata, Okla; Three Nephews, Mike Swalley &
partner Reta Garringer-Andrews of Great Bend; Andrew Cook & partner Meagan
Taylor of Lyons; Shane LeBeau of Hutchinson; Niece, Caresse LeBeau, husband Matt
of Hutchinson; Numerous Great Nieces & Nephews. He was preceeded in death by
Parents, Floyd and Norma Swalley, Sister, Linda Cook. Brother, Jim Teel.
Private family service to be held at a later date.
Birzer Funeral Home of Lyons is in charge of arrangements.
