HERINGTON – Dennis Carl Burch, 71, Jr., of Lincolnville, departed this life, Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, 2015, at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS. He was born on May 28th, 1944, at Maysville, North Carolina, the son of Dennis C. and Edna G. (Stevens) Burch, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 9th, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, Herington, with Rev. Darrell Geist, officiating.
Mr. Burch served two tours of combat duty in Vietnam with the U. S. Army. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with one silver star and the Master Aircraft Crewman Badge. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by a brother Paul Glenn Burch and his parents.
He married Nila Lee Harmon on Oct. 20, 1964, at Pearisburg, VA, she survives of the home. He is survived by three daughters Melissa Burch of Junction City, KS, Anita Jo Crawford and her husband Paul of Ft. Benning, GA, Theressa Wade and her husband Richard of Indiana, three brothers Doug Burch and his wife Bonnie of Goldsboro, NC, Durwood Burch and his wife Jane of Richlands, NC, Larry Burch and his wife Pearl of Ivanhoe, NC, a sister Betty Gurganus and her husband Bobby of Jacksonville, NC, a half-brother Daniel Burch and his wife Nell and a half-sister Malisa Baker all of Angier, NC, a sister-in-law Kathy Burch of Chinquapin, NC, 6 grandchildren; Kaelyn, Carlee, Michael, Travis, Evan, David, and four great grandchildren; Mia, Audry, Zayden, and Alexa.

Gaylord Foster Harrington, 73, of Abilene, passed away Friday, December 4th, peacefully, at Pinnacle Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Gaylord was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on November 16, 1942, a son of the late Reba Bernice (Foster) and Leo Raymond Harrington. He was the husband of Dora (Herbert) Harrington.
Survivors include his wife, Dora of Abilene; daughter, Lynne Easter and husband, Jermey of Beloit; son, Robert Harrington and wife, Kathy of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother, Payson Harrington and wife, Nancy of Geneva, Illinois; sister, Julie and three grandchildren, Noah, Emma and Sophie also many nieces and nephews.
It was the wish of Mr. Harrington to be cremated and there are no services planned at this time.

Betty Payne, 91, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:55 a.m., Friday, December 4th, peacefully, at Cedars House.
Betty was born on her parent’s farm, rural Marquette, Kansas on August 12, 1924. She was the daughter of Mabel Aurora (Post) Hanson and H. Maurice Hanson, Sr.
Betty attended and graduated from Elmdale Country School.
Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church of McPherson, Kansas.
Betty was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She later worked for Kemps Restaurant as a waitress for several years.
Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting, her canine companions, and her family.
Betty Hanson was united in marriage to Glenn Brunkie Schoen on January 25, 1942. Betty was united in marriage to Vincent Fitzhugh on March 5, 1966 at McPherson. Vincent died on May 6, 1974. Betty was united in marriage to Kenny Payne on September 28, 1977 at Topeka, Kansas. Kenny died on July 28, 1984.
Betty is survived by her children, Jim Schoen and his wife Elaine, of Wichita, Kansas, Doug Schoen and his wife Jana, of Wichita, Kansas, and Carol Schoen, also of Wichita; her 7 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, H. Maurice Sr. and Mabel (Post) Hanson; her husbands, Vincent Fitzhugh, and Kenny Payne; her brothers, Maurice “Doc”, Jr. and Wintford Hanson; her sisters, infant sister Hanson, Mabel Johnson, Alma Scharf, June Young, Pearl Scharf, Clara Burgess, and Opal Myers.
The memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, 2015 with Reverend Karen Rice-Ratzlaff officiating.
Entombment will take place at the McPherson Mausoleum, McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be made to 805 Cedars House and they can be sent in care of the Glidden – Ediger Funeral Home, 222 West Euclid Street, McPherson, Kansas 67460.

Erma Lee Manning Morehead, 86, formerly of Washington, died December 3, 2015 at the Linn Community Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, December 6 at the Ward Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 7 at the Washington Christian Church, Washington.
Burial is in the Washington City Cemetery.
Erma was born in Concordia to Jacob and Bertha (Scott) Thompson on March 31, 1929. She was one of eight girls. Erma was raised in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School. On August 12, 1950, Erma married Haskell Manning at EUB Church in Concordia. While living in Concordia, Erma worked for the Blade Empire newspaper as a line type operator. They moved to Washington in 1954 and she worked for the Washington County News, ran a DayCare in her home and waitressed. She was also a 4-H cooking leader and Cub Scout den mother. Haskell preceded her in death on August 19, 1982.
Erma married Eugene Morehead on December 13, 1985 at the United Methodist Church, Washington. Eugene and Erma enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels to area folks. Gardening, camping, fishing, bowling and playing golf were some of her favorite pastimes. Erma would spend time doing arts and crafts and also loved to knit and crochet. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Haskell; and sisters, Lavina Thompson, Wilma Morgan, Pauline Cassidy, Maise Solie and Mary Gallety.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene; children, Glenn Manning, Clay Center, Dennis Manning, Winfield, Peggy Manning, Greenleaf, Mike (Gay Lynn) Manning, Washington, Edna (Tim) Highberger, Hooker, OK, Nancy (Larry) Basel, Solomon; stepchildren, Melvina (Jack) Cutright, Gainesville, FL, Marcia (George) McLaughlin, Salina, Ronald (Cindy) Morehead, Topeka, Douglas (Laryssa) Morehead, Lakewood, WA; sisters, Betty Miller, Concordia, Carol Beatty, Loveland, CO; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial fund will be split between Relay for Life and Cystic Fibrosis. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
