Obituaries 30 December, 2015

giv51224Linda Sue Given, 60, of Salina, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born April 2, 1955 in Bakersfield, California, the daughter of Kenneth and Lois Casperson.

She grew up in Lindsborg, attended Bethany College and was a member of the Bethany College Choir. She played piano and violin and was a member of the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers. She once sang on the radio in New York City while on a Christmas tour.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Karen. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Donald Given; her daughter Angela DeHerrera, and three grandsons.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Memorials may be to the family to assist with expenses or to the Salina Animal Shelter in care of Ryan Mortuary.

5683197b794cbvet_ffffffCouncil Grove – Ralph Dwaine Roediger, 82, of White City, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Diverisicare of Council Grove.

He was born Sept. 7, 1933, in White City, Kansas, the son of Walter L. and Mildred (Head) Roediger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, January 4, 2016, at United Methodist Church, White City. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 3rd, from 3:00 to 5:00 at the fellowship hall of United Methodist Church, White City. Memorial contributions may be made to White City Senior Center or White City Fire Department, sent in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, PO Box 273, Council Grove, KS 66846.

Ralph grew up on the family farm and attended school at Baxter School House before attending White City High School, graduating in 1951. After graduation, he enjoyed farming with his dad, until he joined the US Navy in July 1955 and honorably discharged in June 1959.  His position in the Navy was in radio communications.  He served on the USS Taussig out of San Diego, CA.  While in the service, he toured Japan, Hawaii, Australia, China and other Far East countries.  Upon getting out of the Navy, Ralph returned back to White City, to take up farming.  He married the love of his life, Stella Mae Blosser, on December 9, 1959, at the home of Stella’s parents. Ralph and Stella enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. To this union they were blessed with two children, Lisa Marie Roediger and Mark Dwaine Roediger.

In 1962, he moved his family to Texas until 1964, when he moved them back to Kansas. Ralph worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita for a short time, before he started to work at Fort Riley and was Civil Service for 28 years.  He worked on COMSEC equipment for USAISC, until his retirement in April 1992.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Ralph was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always putting his family first.  He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, checking pastures, mowing, and bird watching.  He didn’t miss anything his kids or grandkids were involved in and he received great joy watching his grandchildren play sports.

He is survived by his loving wife Stella, of the home; daughter, Lisa Hopper and husband Jess; son, Mark Roediger and wife Pat, all of White City; 3 grandchildren: Jacob Ryan Hopper, of White City, Ashley Marie Roediger Hull and husband Ryan of Augusta, GA and Nikki Roediger, of White City. Also surviving are 3 step-grandchildren: Joshua Hopper and wife Evangeline, Joshua Acres, Jeromie Acres and wife Anita; 5 step great-grandchildren: Kaden, Treyton, Kacie, Chloe and Zoey; sister-in-law, Margaret Roediger, of Herington, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Berniece McCulle Riemann and Arlene Mason; brothers, Jerry Roediger and Donald Lawrence Roediger, whom died at infancy; and grandson, Jeremy Dwaine Hopper.

Steven C. Lutman, 63, of Lindsborg, passed away December 30, 2015.

He was born April 26, 1952, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Patrick) Lutman in Lindsborg, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bob Lutman, and nephew, Jhamahl Miles.

Steve leaves behind many loved ones including his daughters: Teresa Loffer (Shanley) of Lindsborg, Kristy Walker of McPherson, brother, Wayne Lutman (Lois) of Benbrook, TX, sister, Mary Shelton (Lutman) of Salina, and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, January 1, from 4-7pm with family present from 5-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 2, at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
