Robert Dean Miller, 73, of Brookville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 7th, 2016
Robert was born in Boulder, Colorado on October 30, 1942, a son of the late Mary Treca (Phillips) Miller-Widener and Edwin V. Miller.
Bob served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964.
He worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Smoky Hill, LLC, Salina, Kansas until he retired.
On January 1, 1962, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Adella N. Benjamin in Smith Center, Kansas.
Survivors include daughter, Tina Mills and husband Martin, of McCracken, Kansas; half brothers, Esben Widener, Jr., of Phillipsburg, Kanas, Harold Widener, of Salina, Kansas; half sister Shirley Lewis, of Jacksonville, Florida; and two grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Adella Miller; brother, Martin Miller; and sister, Patricia Miller.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time.

Gene Havel, the son of Victor O. Havel, Sr. and Helen (Kasl) Havel, was born July 26, 1936 at Wayne, KS and passed away on January 6, 2016 at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 10 days.
Gene grew up and attended the local country schools, graduating from Cuba High School in 1955. He then attended and trained at the Vo-Tech in Salina, KS.
Gene was janitor at Hillcrest High School and was a self-employed carpenter. He worked for Walters Oil Company, Cuba, KS as a repairman/carpenter for several years and also farmed.
In 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Stepanek and to this union was born Belinda, Lori, and Alissa. In 1989, he was united in marriage to Sharil (Asch) Heina.
Gene was a member of the Saddle Club, The Eagles, The Moose Lodge and the Cuba Coyote Club. He enjoyed his favorite dogs, Missy and Corky. He liked hunting, fishing, coyote hunting, playing cards, and going to sales and auctions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Brandi Havel; brothers, Clair (Short) and Victor Havel Jr.; and one sister Marilyn Goppert.
Gene is survived by three daughters, Belinda (Delton) Robison of Scandia, KS, Lori (Randy) Swiercinsky of Cuba, KS and Alissa Havel & Steve Rech of Belleville, KS; 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (Dale) Vanous of Cuba, KS; sister-in-law Delores Havel; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Presbyterian Church, Cuba, KS with Pastor Phil Goombi, officiating.
Interment will be at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery, rural Cuba, KS.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until 9 PM on Friday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS

Estella Helen “Cobbie” Rogg, 98, of Russell, Kansas passed
away Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend, Kansas.
Cobbie was born December 24, 1917 at her parent’s home in Bunker Hill, Kansas. She grew up in Bunker Hill and graduated from Bunker Hill High School. She then attended two years at a Business College in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Cobbie was united in marriage to Earl Rogg on October 22, 1936 in Hays, Kansas. This union was blessed with three daughters; Pat, Barbara and Debbie. They made their home on a farm southwest of Bunker Hill in the Pioneer area. She was a devoted farmer’s wife and homemaker for her daughters. In 1958, Cobbie and Earl, moved into Russell. Earl preceded her in death on October 23, 1996.
Cobbie was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. When her daughters were young, she was very active as a 4-H Leader. Cobbie and Earl enjoyed playing cards, watching high school sports, attending community activities and boating with family and friends at Lake Wilson.
Surviving family include her three daughters, Pat Ludes (Ed) of Great Bend, Kansas, Barbara Maloy (Michael) of Boulder, Colorado and Debra Rogg (Natalie) of Chisago City, Minnesota; six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, January 18, 2016, at the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell with Father Michael Elan and Father James Grennan Burial of Ashes will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. No visitation being held. Memorials have been established with Vintage Place of Russell or the Bunker Hill Public Television.
