3600087_wlppDanny E. Thomas, 60, Delphos, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born October 22, 1955 in Concordia to Duane and Darlene (Adams) Thomas.
     Danny was a self-employed truck driver. He was a gentle giant who loved his family and friends.
     Survivors include his wife Alyce; son Adam Thomas and his wife Lindsey; parents Duane and Darlene Thomas; brother Reuben Thomas; sister Debra Porter; and grandchildren Ryan and Adalyn; and a host of other family and many friends.
     Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lamar. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Lucille-Williams-Cannon-Jarvis-Neustrom-1455461986Lucille “Lukie” was born to Mollie Stockenberg and Charles Williams in their house on S. Connecticut St. in Salina, Kansas, January 5, 1921. She was the last surviving sibling of eight children; Elmer, Thelma, Alice, Ethel, Francis, John and Betty Williams, all born and raised in Salina.

Lucille was the widow of three husbands; James Cannon, Mel Jarvis, and Willys Neustrom. She is survived by her sons John William Cannon, his wife Nancy and daughter Lauren Sedillo and James Thomas (Tom) Cannon and his wife Nancy and her four children, Natalie, Gretchen, Chad, and Kiersten Morgan. She is also survived by six, soon to be eight great grandchildren.

Lukie was a long time member of Christ Cathedral Episcopalian Church and later converted to Christian Orthodoxy with her marriage to Father Thomas (Willys) Neustom of the All Saints Christian Orthodox Church.

She attended Brown Mackie in Salina after graduation from high School and worked for many years at the Salina Board of Trade Lab. She was an active member of the Dudes ‘n Dames Square dance Group with husband Jim in Salina in the 50’s and 60’s. She travelled the world with her second husband, Mel, and was active in the All Saints Church with husband Willys. Lukie was accomplished at needlepoint, cross stitch and bead work, a devoted mother of two boys and later in life a tireless caregiver to her three husbands with terminal illness. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lukie will always be remembered for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to :00 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home. The family will greet friends and there will also be a short prayer service from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at All Saints Orthodox Church.

A Orthodox Mass will be celebrated at at All Saints Orthodox Church, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17th, with Fr. Daniel Griffith officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Orthodox Church, 2818 Scanlan Ave., Salina, Kansas 67401.

INMAN — Barbara Ann Shufelberger, of Inman, passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016. She was born to Burt and Ester Nelson on April 9, 1932. She married Elvin Shufelberger on July 6, 1968.She was a baker for 35 years and retired from the Department of Treasury, where she worked for 15 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Leann Hargett, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Joe Willis and wife Sherry, of Inman, Larry Willis, of Salina, and Jim Willis and wife Cheryl, of Inman; daughter in-law, Pam Willis; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Omart and Valeda Hansen, of Wichita; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin; her parents, Burt and Ester Nelson; a son, Carl Willis; a stepdaughter, Becky Skidmore; parents-in-law, Walter and Lila Shufelberger; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Willis.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina.

Private inurnment will be at a later date in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorials may be made to the First Tee of Salina, in care of the mortuary.

8a5bab_5f1db70ffd6e4d719c9ee5e7f4c6c15avet_ffffffRobert Lee “Bob” Wacker, 78, passed away February 13, 2016, at his home in Kanopolis, KS. He was born September 13, 1937 in Vesper, KS to Albert and Ferne (White) Wacker.

Holding many jobs throughout his lifetime, Bob was co-owner of Hi-Plains Sand in Kanopolis.

Bob served his country in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 174 of Ellsworth. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ellsworth and a former volunteer firefighter for the Kanopolis Volunteer Fire Dept.

Bob married Karen Jandos on December 3, 1961 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. He was married to his loving wife for 54 years. She survives him.

Bob is also survived by his son, Todd Wacker (Tracy) of Ellsworth; grandson, Quentin Wacker (Josie Peterson) of Ellsworth; granddaughter, Laurel Wacker of Ellsworth; brothers, Gary Wacker (Vicki) and Larry Wacker both of Kanopolis, and Steve Miley (Glynnis) of Salina; and sister, Kathie Taylor (John) of Hays. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth with burial following in the Kanopolis Cemetery.

Marlo W. Nansel, age 69, entered into rest on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Kenwood View Nursing Center, Salina, Kansas. He was born June 30, 1946 in Elmore, Minnesota to Raymond and Pearl May (White) Nansel.
Marlo attended a specialty school in Owatonia, Minnesota into his teens. Marlo was limited and handicapped in life and he worked as a dishwasher in several restaurants for many years until he became disabled.
While living in the Burr Oak and Smith Center communities Marlo attended the Church of the Nazarene.
Marlo loved to bowl and competed several years in the Special Olympics receiving many awards over the years.
He is survived by two brothers, Marion Nansel (Joyce), Wichita; Ks.; Marvin Nansel (Mary), Indianapolis, In.; Two sisters, Nola Jones, Armona, Ca.; Shirley McCarty, Bowie, Tx.; Eight nieces and nephews.
Marlo has bequeathed his body to science to the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas which is a noble and humane gesture. There are no services planned at this time. Cremation will take place at a later time. Inurnment will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery.

Goessel – Barbara J. Britton, 69, died February 12, 2016 at Goessel.  She was born August 1, 1946 to Howard O. and Wendella Arlene (Bauman) Wettestad at Clark, South Dakota.  She married Richard Britton January 18, 1986 at Goessel.  Survivors include: son, Darryl (Sally L.) Thiesen of Goessel; daughter, Daynna (Chip) DuFriend of Andover; brothers, Ted Wettestad of Watertown, SD, Oliver Hatfield of Waco, Texas; sisters, Connie Worlie of Sioux Falls, SD, Katherine Hatfield Hiebert of Rural Goessel, Arlene Felberg of Watertown, SD, Patricia Hatfield Nuttbrock of Raymond, SD; 4 grandchildren.  Predeceased by her husband Richard Britton in 2010.  Celebration in the Life of Barbara J. Britton 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  Memorials to Central Care Cancer Center in care of Jost Funeral Home P.O. Box 266 Hillsboro, KS 67063.
