van30413Lawrence Ray “L.V.” Vandiver, 57, of Salina, died Saturday, April 13, 2013. He was born Jan. 10, 1956, in Hoxie, the son of Alva and Mildred (Deibert) Vandiver. L.V. was a bricklayer for Eckley Masonry.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Lance) Graves, of Ellsworth, and three grandchildren, Alex, Zack and Addason. “L.V.” has three brothers, Robert (Sandra) Vandiver, of Salina, J.W. (Gail) Vandiver, of Okla., and Butch (Karen) Vandiver, of Goodland; sister, Amanda McKenzie, of Smith Center; and many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Ryan Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Salina.

the30412Dora June Theel, 78, of Salina, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at her home. She was born June 14, 1934, near Bennington, to Dave and Pearl (Bernbeck) Brown. In 1952, she graduated from Salina High School. On March 6, 1954, she married Donald L. Theel at the Lutheran Church in Abilene.

She was a certified dental assistant, member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, longtime 4-H leader, member of Native Daughters of Kansas, member of Ladies Club No. 26, was a grand marshall of the Tri-Rivers Fair parade and participated in many groups and activities at her church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald L.; sons, Bruce Theel and wife Sara, of Susanville, Calif., Chris Theel and wife Cindy, and Scott Theel, all of Salina; daughters, Heather Hill and husband Dean, of Wakefield, Melissa Theel, of Hutchinson, Nancy Franzen and husband Al, and Emily Theel, all of Salina; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Private inurnment will be at a later date.

The family suggests memorials to the church. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.

mas30412OVERLAND PARK — Robert “Bob” Masters Jr., 67, of Overland Park, died Friday, April 12, 2013. He was born July 7, 1945, in Topeka to Robert and Shirley (Welch) Masters. He was a banker, entrepreneur and high school teacher, and he loved to coach basketball. He was a devoted and caring husband, dad and papa and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Bob was preceded in death by his infant son, Kelly; wife, Patty; his parents; and his brother, Tony.

Survivors include his son, Casey, of Leawood; daughter, Kim Homolka and husband Eric, of Leawood; nine grandchildren, Lucy, Calvin, Max, Lala, Rocco, Dalton, Cameron, Emily and Dayne; and two brothers, Pat and Glen.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Graveside services and burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, in care of the mortuary.
