Leta May Brownson-Meyer, 104, of Salina, died Monday, April 15, 2013. She was born April 27, 1908, in Wells, the daughter of Edwin and Kay Watkins.

She was lovingly called “Granny” by her family. She was an inspiration to all those around her. She had a quick wit and sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. She loved dancing, planting flowers and cooking. She most loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and participating in each stage of their lives, from hiding Easter eggs to high school and college graduations.

Granny was always thankful for the smallest things in her life, such as a sunny day, warm weather, good food or a visit from her family. She will be greatly missed.

Leta was preceded in death by two husbands, Rollo R. Brownson and Oscar O. Meyer; brother, one Oliver K. Watkins; and two sisters, Lela Plunkett and Marie Sumstine.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Hucksoll and husband Chuck, of Salina; granddaughter, Sheri Mahan and husband Rob, of Manhattan; grandson, Steve Hucksoll, of Kansas City; and two great-grandchildren, Matty and Logan Mahan, both of Manhattan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to University United Methodist Church, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
