vet_ffffffJimmy-Gadson-1461062547Jimmy L. Gadson, 50, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 16th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Jimmy was born in Salina, Kansas on February 18, 1966, a son of the late Susie Mae (Gates) and William Gadson.

He worked as a Medical Technician and was a member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church Salina, Kansas.

Survivors include his son, Jimmy Gadson, Jr.; daughters, Chereka Gadson, of Houston, Texas, Tionne Gadson, of Houston, Texas, Lanea Gadson, of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Gracie’Lee D. Gadson, of Salina, Kansas; brothers, Charles Gadson, and wife Judy, of Salina, Kansas, William Gadson, and wife Jane, of Killeen, Texas, Curzie Gadson and wife Addah, of Broomfield, Colorado, Johnny Gadson and wife Linda, of Topeka, Kansas, Bobby Gadson, of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Rosemary Gadson, of Garland, Texas, Carol Dixon and husband Rob, of Murfeesboro, Illinois.

He is preceded in death by his son, Marijan Gadson; and brothers, Eddie Gadson, Paul Gadson, and Tommy Gadson.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 22 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22nd at the funeral home with Allen D. Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd, Manhattan, Kansas 66503.

fai60415vet_ffffffHenry Ward Fair, 86, of Salina, died Friday, April 15, 2016. He was born February 8, 1930 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the son of Lawrence O. “Jim” and Mildred E. (Clay) Fair.

Henry was a Korean War Veteran serving the U.S. Army in the 51st Signal Battalion Corps. He was also very active with Boy Scouts and St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mildred; step-mother, Alice Fair; and six siblings, Max, Karl, Rose, David, Letha, and John.

He is survived by three sons, Tim (Lori) Czereda, David Fair and Henry W. (Rose) Fair II; four siblings, Bette Mae, Elaine, Leland and Donald; numerous step-brothers and sisters; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Ethan, Jessica, Alec, David and Katherine and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 302 S. Seventh St., with Rev. Ed Foster officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Boy Scouts of America, both in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina.

vet_ffffffHarry Calvin “Cal” Kandt, 88, of Salina, died peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Salina Regional Health Center. He was born June 20, 1927, to Frank and Emma (Oppliger) Kandt at Latimer, Kan.

He was raised in Herington, Kan. After high school, he joined the Navy and served 2 years on the USS Ozark in the South Pacific. He attended Emporia State College and received his degree in history. He belonged to Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He began his career at Beech Aircraft in 1951 in Herington. He transferred to the Wichita plant in 1960 and then to the Salina plant in 1963, retiring in 1990. He married Marian R. Kandt on June 30, 1963, in Herington. His passion was collecting coins and antiques.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian R. Kandt, in 2011; parents, Frank and Emma Kandt; brothers, Karl Kandt and Vernon Kandt; sister, Mary Driscoll; granddaughter, Adrienne Serrault; and son-in-law, Joseph Gulzow.

He is survived by daughters, Deborah (David) Serrault, of Lyons, Kan., and Rebecca Gulzow, of Marquette, Kan.; and one son, Mark (Cindy) Davis, of Jacksonville, Fla. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren, Brooke, Claire, Luke, Danielle, Jason, Andrew, Christi, Drew, Lindsey, Daniel and Mary; and nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, Scott, Meghan, Reed, Dakota, Jordan, Waylon and Justice. He is also survived by his brother, Franklyn (Ruth) Kandt, of Manhattan, Kan.

The viewing will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, with family receiving visitors from 5-8, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Shawn Deterding officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Lincolnville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.

Irma Arias, 51, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016. She is preceded in death by her father Jose Arias. Irma is survived by her husband, Carlos Fabela, Sr.; sons, Carlos Fabela, Jr., Jose Fabela and Hugo Arias; brothers, Javier, Benjamin, Nicolas, Eusebio, Lalo, and Gustavo Arias; and mother Maria Arias. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Vigil Service will be 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the church.

3672870_wlppDavid Joseph Kimminau was the 10th child born on January 30, 1949 to William Joseph and Loretta Katherine (Weingardt) Kimminau in Nelson, Nebraska. He was called to the Lord on April 17, 2016 at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, Beloit, Kansas, at the age of 67 years 2 months and 17 days.

David grew up and was raised on a farm 17 miles north of Mankato where he enjoyed gathering eggs and caring for the farm animals. In 1991, Bill, Loretta, David and Susie moved to Mankato where David and Susie enjoyed taking long walks around town and going up to coffee to visit with the community. After the passing of Bill and Loretta, David moved to Beloit, Kansas. Through the help of OCCK, Inc. assistance, David obtained a job at Sunflower Manufacturing where he took great pride in assembling parts for others to use.

David was a quiet and humble man that loved his family. Getting to go places with his family was a highlight to his day. He loved music and performing for his family on his guitar. He especially liked getting to go to dances and cutting a rug. But above all this, David was passionate in his faith with God.

He is survived by his siblings Vic and wife, Betty Kimminau of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Ferdie and wife, Joan Kimminau of Huntley, Illinois, Albert Kimminau, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ralph and wife, Lorena Kimminau, Beloit, Kansas, Stanley Kimminau, Superior, Nebrsaka, Kenneth Kimminau, Sunrise Beach, Missouri, Julia Hyde, Superior, Nebraska and Susan Kimminau, Beloit, Kansas along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents – William and Loretta Kimminau, brother – Urban Kimminau, sister – Pat Flageolle and sister-In-Law – Ruth Kimminau.

Mass of Christian Burial will be (was) held for David Joseph Kimminau on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Father Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be (was) in St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. Vigil service will be (was) Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Beloit, Kansas. Visitation will be (was) Wednesday, April 20, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas. Memorial Donations may be made to St. John’s Catholic School. Online condolences can be left at www.melbymortuary.com. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.

Alta Bernice Peppiatt, 81, of Lindsborg, passed away April 18, 2016.

She was born May 21, 1934, the daughter of Steven F. and Francis Rebecca (Robbins) Underwood in Duke, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Terry Ross.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Richard, sons: David Ross, Robert Ross (Pam), daughter, Marcia Bartlett (Calvin), step-sons: Daniel Peppiatt, Timothy Peppiatt (Linda), step-daughter, Sandra Perry (Bruce), sisters: Louise Hughes, Lucille Ratzlaff, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, five step-grandchildren, and six step-great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 11:00am at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
