Paul K. (Corky) Malm, 81, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away at 2:11 a.m., Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at the Bethany Home.
Paul was born to Marie Evelina (Johnson) and Reinhold Nathaniel “RN” Malm in Lindsborg, Kansas on July 9, 1934. Paul, known as “Corky” to all, attended Johnstown Grade School, and graduated from Lindsborg High School, Lindsborg, Kansas.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church Lindsborg, Kansas.
With a dream to work for himself, the unqualified support of his wife Deloris, some friendly advice and a $10,000 loan from a local banker, Corky started Malm Construction Company on June 19, 1964. Together, Corky and Deloris owned and operated Malm Construction for over 50 years turning a small business with one bulldozer into a nationally recognized operation.
Corky held leadership roles in the Kansas Land Improvement Contractors Association where he served as President for a number years. He also served as President of the Land Improvement Contractors Association of America. Additionally, he was an active member of the Kansas Association of General Contractors, the Smoky Valley Historical Association, and the Lindsborg Quarter Back Club to name a few. Corky enjoyed golfing, cooking, traveling and spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed winters in his Lake Havasu, AZ home entertaining friends, golfing and tending his citrus trees. A master storyteller, he loved local history and collecting the work of Kansas artists. He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and made friends where ever he went.
He married his high school sweetheart, Deloris Virginia Lindquist on July 25, 1952 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Lindsborg, Kansas.
He is survived by his children, Kola Johnson (Daryl), of Lindsborg, Kansas, Kenneth Malm, (Wendy Peterson) of Lindsborg, Kansas, Terry Malm, (Julie Scott), of Lindsborg, Kansas, and Barbara Malm, (Jason Matteo) of Alexandria, Virginia; his 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loyal employees.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents, RN and Marie Malm; his wife Deloris Malm; and his brother, Norman Malm.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. to greet family at Bethany Home Activities Center, Lindsborg, Kansas.
After a private family burial at Elmwood Cemetery Lindsborg, Kansas, a memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8th, with Pastor Loren Mai and Pastor Bill Buschbom officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lindsborg Quarter Back Club for Smoky Valley High School Athletics or the Bethany Lutheran Church and they can be sent in care of the Glidden – Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.

Hillsboro–Glenn A. Schattak, 80, of Hillsboro, Kansas, passed away June 1, 2016 at Via Christi–Saint Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was born October 17, 1935, in Hillsboro, and was a long-time area resident. He was the son of Arthur and Helen (Jantz) Schattak. He married Margaret Roop April 17, 1968, in Miami, Oklahoma.
He was retired from Cooperative Grain and Supply, having worked in their Crop Production Department for many years. He was a very active member of American Legion Post #366, Hillsboro, as well as a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by: his wife, Margaret, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Liane and Tracy Cope of Moundridge; brother, Gary Schattak of Lyndon; sisters, Jeanie Hellman of Hillsboro, and Janice Bailey of Indianapolis, Ind.; granddaughters, Lindsy Walker of Andover, and Codi Walker of Moundridge.
Graveside Memorial Services for Glenn will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery with Pastor Morita Truman officiating. American Legion Post #366 will conduct military honors.
In lieu of flowers, The family requests memorials be given to the American Legion Post #366 Educational Scholarship Fund in care of Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro, who is in charge of arrangements.

Harold D. Irby, 92 died June 2, 2016 at his home in Bogue, Kansas. Harold was born to Siegle Horace and Ineze Melvina (Wing) Irby on August 17, 1923. Harold worked as an electrician and head of maintenance for the school district.
Harold was proceeded in death by his parents; infant son, Jimmy; daughter, Luana, grandson, Darren; three brothers: Don, Darrol and Robert Irby; and one sister, Iona.
He is survived by his wife, Lenor, of the home; three daughters: Iona (Bob) DeLaney, Salina, Kansas; Gaylene Stagner, Bogue; Jeannie (Fred) Taylor, Aurora, Colorado; five sons: Roger (Martha) Irby, Aurora, Colorado; Ron (Marcia) Irby, Gainesville, Florida; Randy (Susan) Irby, Phoenix, Arizona; Allen Irby, Pflugerville, Texas; Kevin (Nancie) Irby, Centennial, Colorado; 17 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and four Great-Great Grandchildren.
