vet_ffffffdoh60707SALINA — Patrick Henry “Pat” Doherty, 72, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016, from pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. He was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Hoisington.

He is survived by his wife, Emma, of 48 years; daughter, Patresa Ebersole and husband Dr. Lowell Ebersole, of Wichita; son, Patrick E. “PJ” and wife Melissa, of Salina; six grandchildren, Isabel, Claire, Greta and Tucker Ebersole, and Tyler and Alexis Doherty; brother, Mike Doherty (LoRita), of Lindsborg; sister, Leona Oyster, of Paola; sister, Betty Holcombe, of Lindsborg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alice (Maloney) Doherty; three brothers; and two sisters.

Pat served honorably in the U.S. Army. He retired after a 36-year railroad career as a conductor with the Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. He was a member of First Covenant Church, Salina, and a 40-year member of General Assembly Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the motorcycle group ROMEOS (Retired Old Motorcyclists Eating Out) and was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 11, with family receiving friends from 6-7, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at First Covenant Church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Palacky Cemetery, Holyrood.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Covenant Church, 2625 E Magnolia Rd, Salina, the Great Plains Transportation Museum of Wichita, 700 E Douglas, Wichita, KS 67202 (316) 263-0944., or the Palacky Cemetery Association, 1646 4th Rd, Holyrood, KS 67450.

Directions to Palacky Cemetery:
Take I-70 West 25 miles to Exit 225.
Head South on Hwy 156 for 25 miles.
Turn right on 5th Rd (before Holyrood) and head North for 3 miles.
Turn left on Ave Q for 3 miles.
Turn right on 2nd Rd for 1-3/4 miles.

3804632vet_ffffffJoseph H. Kongs, 97, of Washington, KS, died Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington, KS.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home in Washington.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 15 at St. Augustine’s.

Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery.

Survivors include his son, Mike (Cindy) Kongs, Washington; three daughters, Barb Hawkins, Marysville, Joan (Louis) Huber, Leawood, and Kathy (George) Clark, Washington; eleven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established to St. Augustine Catholic Church or the Washington County Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
