Darrell Duane Pounds, 81, of Delphos died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.
Darrell was born March 23, 1935 at the family farm in Cloud County, Kansas. He graduated from the Delphos High School in 1953. In the year of 1954, July 30, Darrell married his high school sweetheart, Janice Irene Ablard of Delphos.
Darrell’s early years of employment was with the Chalmers & Borton Construction Company working as their bookkeeper. He traveled from Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Mexia, Texas. In 1958, Darrell worked for Montgomery Ward as a salesman and during the summer months he returned to the family farm for harvest. In 1967, he returned to Delphos with his wife and family to the life they enjoyed the most, farming.
Darrell drove the school bus for USD 239 for 43 years. He truly enjoyed singing and sharing the mornings and evenings with the children on his bus route.
Survivors include his sons, Kevin Pounds and wife Deanna of Concordia, David Pounds and wife Deb of Minneapolis, and daughter, Lisa Pounds Muller and husband Mark of Coffeyville; three sisters, Tresa Steinbrock of Minneapolis, Dorothy Lou Ponton of Delphos, and Sylvia (Don) Shaffer of Salina, Kansas; Grandchildren Chris Pounds, Mike Pounds and wife Laurel, Josh Pounds, Kaleb Pounds of Concordia and Jordan Pounds of Manhattan, Tacy Contreras and husband Alberto of Andover, Garrett Pounds of Minneapolis and Mara Pounds of Wichita, Jayne Robson and husband Ryan of Coffeyville, Joe Muller and fiancée Ashley Moore of Coffeyville, Jesse Muller of Liberty and Rebecca Murrow of Liberty; great grandchildren, Ryley, Rylissa and Ryann Robson of Coffeyville, Senora, Merek and Forrest Pounds of Concordia and Danica and Jaklin Murrow of Liberty.
Darrell was preceded in death by his honey, Janice Irene of 42 years. His parents, Louie and Mimie Pounds, brother Lennis (Mae), sisters Berniece (Dale) Nelson, Chub (Bub) Alderson, Delma (Ivan) Huffman and two brothers-in-law Harry Lee Ponton and Darrel Steinbrock of Delphos, and one nephew Arnie Alderson of Delphos.
Visitation will be Friday, August 19, from 2-8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle, Minneapolis. Graveside services will be at the Delphos cemetery at 1:00, Saturday, August 20 with Pastor Barry Nelson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delphos Senior Center or the CCCC Scholarship Foundation.

Carol S. Lindsay-Stromgren, 73, passed away Tuesday, August 16th, in Abilene. She was born March 27, 1943 in Hope, the daughter of Jacob and Valene (James) Rutz. Growing up in the area, Carol attended local schools and graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1961. On July 28, 1962, she was married to Royce Lindsay. He preceded her in death, June 21, 2002. On May 26, 2006, she was married to Bus Stromgren. All of their married life has been spent in Abilene. Carol had been employed by Vacu-Blast and Duckwall-Alco, retiring in 2008. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, the coffee club girls, golfing with Bus and traveling. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Roger, two sisters and a brother.
She is survived by: husband, Bus Stromgren of Abilene; five children, Gene (Rhonda) Lindsay of Beloit; Jo (Kyle) Baugh of Oceanside, California, Rod (Marsha) Lindsay of Abilene, Jeff (Stephanie) Stromgren of Topeka and Craig (Kyra) Stromgren of Silverlake; three sisters. Betty Riffel of Herrington, Joyce Gaston of Abilene and Shirley Pennington of New Castle, Indiana and three brothers Bill Rutz of Enterprise, Jim Rutz of Goodland and Ray Rutz of Houston Texas; fourteen grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 20th, at the Abilene First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Roland Slater officiating. Interment will follow in the New Basel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Friday, August 19th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Dickinson County Hospice. Ella Marie Born died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at McPherson, KS. She was 88 years old.
Marie was born on December 18, 1927, at Belvidere, Kansas to Oliver and Florence Tetrick.
She was a graduate of Cunningham, KS High School in 1944. She married John Leslie Fitzsimmons on February 22, 1947, at Pratt, Kansas. She later married Dee Long of Kingman, KS. He passed away in May, 1983. In February of 1988, she was married to Leo Saunders Graves at Kingman, KS. Leo passed away in May of 1993.
On April 20, 1996, Marie married Wilbert Dean Born at McPherson, KS.
Survivors include: her husband, Wilbert of the home; two daughters, Suzan Fitzsimmons Anderson and husband, Chris, of Lindsborg, KS and Cynthia Ball and husband, Mike, of Andover, KS; daughter-in-law, Katie Fitzsimmons of Pawnee Rock, KS; step-sons, Vernon Long and wife, Jodie, of Decatur, AL, Dwight Graves of Warner, NH, Randy Graves of Napa, CA; step-daughters, Jeaneen Craft and Kathy Graves of Napa, CA; step-sons, Jeffery Born of McPherson, KS, Michael Born and wife, Wendi, of Olathe, KS; step-daughter, Janet Johnson and husband, Jerry, of Fort Worth, TX; brother, James Tetrick of Kingman, KS; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, James Lee Fitzsimmons, who died at the age of 33 of cancer, and John Leslie Fitzsimmons, Jr. who died at the age of 58 of cancer.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Grace Bible Church, 1215 N. Grimes, McPherson, KS 67460 with Pastor Rich Duerksen officiating. A private inurnment will be held at North Inman Cemetery.
