Wesley Phelps, 65, Tescott, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at home after a courageous battle against Myelofibrosis. Wes was born March 11, 1951, at Salina, Kansas, to Harold and Marcella (Griffin) Phelps.
Wes graduated from Tescott High in 1970. He drove a semi for Nelson Truck Line, C&R Truck Line & Western Auto. After many years of driving, Wes then worked as senior maintenance at Western Auto/Advance Auto Parts before retiring in the late 90’s due to an on-the-job injury which resulted in fibromyalgia.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors usually fishing, boating, or gardening & also spending time with his grandkids. He loved taking them fishing & always seemed to have the garden tractor, golf cart or ranger ready for them at any given moment to cruise around.
He married Mary Beth (Be) Matthews of Tescott in April 1976. They are the parents of two children Lyle (Ashley) Phelps, Topeka; Jeremy (Kriston) Phelps, Tescott. He is survived by his wife and sons as well as 5 grandchildren; Lucas, Charlie, Avery, Carter, Zach, and seven brothers, Charlie (Carol Ann) Phelps, Gardner, KS; Clayton Phelps, Beverly, KS; Francis Gary ‘Pete’ Phelps, Parker, CO; Ronald (Carolyn) Phelps, Mahomet, IL; William ‘Bill’ (Noreen) Phelps, Golden, CO; Larry (Bonny) Phelps, Delia, KS; Wendell (Jan) Phelps, Arvada, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rockford Ray and Gregory.
A celebration of life will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 9 at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, KS. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Jeffrey David Shriver passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, after a brief, but grueling, struggle with cancer, at the age of 65.
Jeff was born on October 19, 1951 to Pat and Marlene Shriver in Watertown, South Dakota. He graduated from Dakota State University, where he also competed on the basketball team, and allegedly, never missed a rebound. He served honorably in the Military Police Corps of the U.S. Army where he was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS.
In 1976, he married Cindy Crough in Salina, KS, and they moved to Ivanhoe, MN where he taught and coached for 5 years, and welcomed the birth of their daughter, Alyssa.
In the summer of 1981, they moved to Salina, welcomed son Ryan, and he began teaching and coaching at Salina South Middle School, where he remained until retiring in 2008.
Jeff loved to fish, play golf, correct free throw shooting techniques, and was a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas Jayhawks, and whatever team his kids were playing on.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cindy; children Alyssa (Digger) Kimmel of Olathe and Ryan (Lindsey) Shriver of Overland Park; four beautiful grandchildren, Vivian Jean and Suzanne Louise Kimmel, and Henry Jeffrey and Kit Eileen Shriver; his mother, Marlene Stemwedel; and his sisters Randi (Jim) Cloud, Julie (Ed) Peterson, and Mary Gasper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pat; his stepfather, Bill Stemwedel; and his brother, Billy Stemwedel.
A private, family service and inurnment was held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Solomon, KS. A memorial has been established to The Jer Wilson Fund, c/o Ryan Mortuary 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, KS 67401.

Jimmie J. “Jud” Dupy passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Salina Regional Medical Center. He was born August 9, 1925, in Billings, OK and was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Morisse) Dupy; parents, Lafe and Myrl (Taylor) Dupy; brother, Ed Goldsmith; and sister, June Van Syckel.
Jud graduated from Chase High School, and then joined the US Army where he served in the 28th Infantry division during World War II.
On July 25, 1952, Jud was united in marriage with Lois Morisse. Jud was a devoted father to their three sons, Dee and wife, Linda, of Albuquerque, NM, Ron, of Salina, and Doug and his wife, Jacque, of Castle Pines, CO. Other survivors include his seven grandchildren: Andy Schippers, Libby Starns, David Dupy, Tyler Dupy, Matt Dupy, Greg Dupy and Brian Dupy; nine great-grandchildren: Desi Schippers, Jordan Schippers, Jadyn Starns, Brooke Starns, Carter Starns, Ryan Dupy, Cade Starns, Hailey Dupy, and Anna Dupy.
Jud had a very successful sales career in the insurance business. He received his license on July 31, 1953, and was the 9th longest tenured licensed insurance agent in the State of Kansas. Jud was a District Manager for American Family Insurance for 40 years and continued to work part time up until the time of his passing.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 7th, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S. Ninth, Salina, KS. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment or the Salina YMCA.

BROOKVILLE — Helen M. Cash, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy, in 1974; sister, Betty Jean Funston; and her parents.
Helen was born Nov. 14, 1933, in Salina, the daughter of Arthur and Verna (Oberg) Johnson. She was raised in Solomon until 1946, before moving to Brookville, where she attended and graduated from Brookville High School.
She was a former employee of Great Plains Insurance and worked for USD 305 for more than 30 years before retiring. Helen was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, past member of DWT Club and Mount Tabor Club, both of Brookville, 4-H clubs, PTA and the Brookville Senior Center. She also served as a Boy and Girl Scout leader.
She is survived by: two sons, Guy Cash of Mankato, and Myron Cash and wife Teri of Salina; daughter, Penney MacPherson of the home; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Private Inurnment will take place at Gypsum Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Richard Wernecke, 70 years died November 3, 2016 in Salina, KS. He was born on November 3, 1946 in White City, KS, the son of Charles and Violet Wernecke. Richard was raised in White City. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served in Viet Nam. He married Donna Wurtz, they divorced in 1990. After retiring from the Air Force, he lived in Clifton and worked for BOC Gas Trucking, retiring in 2003. Richard was a member of the American Legion in Clifton and the VFW in Clyde. He was preceded in death by his father, infant sister and a granddaughter.

Douglas Loder, 72, of Marquette, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016.
He was born April 15, 1944 to Leslie and Vada (Hendershot) Loder in Little River.
He was first united in marriage to Sheryl (Hopp) Loder in 1964 and later Doug married Leslie Bowen in 2004.
Survivors include children: Monte (Julie) Loder, Marquette, Andi (Barry Day) Loder, Guide Rock, Nebraska, Darrel (Mari) Loder, Marquette, Terri (Wayne) McBride, Marquette, Brett (Lauri) Loder, Marquette, Douglas Loder II, Graham, Texas; stepchildren; Jeremy (Angela) Hopkins, Salina, Emily (Steven) DeRocco, Ashburn, Virginia; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jon Ryan Loder, parents, sister, Connie Lawrence, and stepfather Willard Carlson.
Doug was an entrepreneur and self-employed contractor. He was a life-long resident of rural Langley. Doug was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a staunch conservative and proud member of the National Rifle Association.
Doug was a proud father and grandfather and was active in his grandchildren’s lives. He enjoyed watching them in sports, school activities, and programs; attending every event he possibly could. He was a member of the undefeated Marquette High School football team for two years. One year they were unscored against and inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
Friends and family will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Christians Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Marquette United Methodist Church. The family will hold a private scattering of the ashes at his farm on a later date.
