Josephine (Feather) Essig, 84, Minneapolis, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Salina Regional Health Center. She was born December 14, 1928 in Minneapolis to Ray and Fannie (Gant) Feather.
Josephine was raised in Ottawa County and she moved from the farm to Tucson, AZ and later to Santa Monica, CA. She worked as a buyer for numerous department stores before moving back to Minneapolis is 1993. Josephine was very active in the community. She was a member of the Atlantean Brown Club, Ottawa County Historical Society, Red Hat Ladies, and she attended the Golden Wheel Senior Center. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives and the Ottawa County Museum.
Survivors include her daughter Susan “Sue” (Essig) Null and her husband Allen of Cabot, AR; sister Winifred Berger of Wichita; two step grandchildren Melanie (Null) Crouch and Jason Null; three step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. It was Josephine’s wishes to be cremated and that there be no services. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Tucson, AZ. Memorials may be made to the Golden Wheel Senior Center or the Ottawa County Museum.
