Rex L. Strifler, 82, of Salina, passed away, Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Fostoria, KS, the son of Sarah and John Strifler.

Rex grew up on a farm, but spent the majority of his life as a professional roofer. After retirement, he assisted his wife, Phyllis, with their in-home daycare and spent many hours providing love and care for these children. Rex was known to many for his skills at “tinkering”. There are many stories to be told about his creative ideas on how to fix lawn mowers, clock radios, or televisions. Those who knew Rex, would probably have a remark or two about his bright, sparkling blue eyes. There may also be a joke or two about how he would use those “baby blues” to charm the ladies. Rex was strong, hardworking, sweet, and considerate. He was a good man who provided for his family, and loved them dearly.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina. Inurnment will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center, and left in care of the mortuary.
