Jerome M. “Jeep” Koster, 85, of Salina, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013. He was born Sept 25, 1927, in Cawker City, the son of Henry and Susan (Thomas) Koster.
He worked as an oceanographer for over 20 years and surveyed the entire coastline of the continental United States. He served as a corporal in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Jeep was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joan Self; second wife, Patricia Koster; two brothers, Harold and Richard; and one sister, Marcella Hyde.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Holman and wife Gayle, of Lincoln, Rick Holman and significant other Holly, of Breckenridge, Colo., and Tim Holman, of Salina; one daughter, Jana Robinson and husband Rick, of Lindsborg; five brothers, Charles and wife Leona, of Lakeside, Colo., Cecil and wife Martha, of Cawker City, Robert of Cawker City, Henry and wife Phyllis, of Salina, and Raymond and wife Yvonne, of Mexico, Mo.; three sisters, Delores Quenzer, of Valley Center, Marilyn Lingg and husband Wayne, of Alma, Neb., and Janice Koster, of Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Chelsi Koster, Trenton Robinson, Jeanna Holman, Tara Zachgo, Kirk Dreisigaker, Howard Dreisigaker, Julie Ryan and Jo Ryan; great-grandchildren, Maliyah Koster and Taliyah Koster; stepdaughter, Kim Mattull; and stepgranddaughter, Kimberly Mzhula Henry.
The family will greet visitors from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, with a vigil service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with interment in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Cawker City.
There is no viewing as cremation was chosen.

Joy D. Patrick, of Salina, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina. Joy was born Sept. 11, 1952, in Salina to Harry and Nevadeane (Keeler) Olson.
She graduated from Salina High School in 1970 and from Bethany College in 1974, with a degree in organ and piano performance. On July 27, 1974, Joy married her best friend, Larry Patrick.
Joy began serving as a church organist while still in high school and through college at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salina. She then served as organist at Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita andcompleted her 35th year as organist at First Baptist Church in Salina. She taught private piano lessons for 39 years and recently served as accompanist for the Salina Central High School vocal department for more than eight years.
Joy was preceded in death by her father, Harry Olson, and her brother, Jeff Olson.
She is survived by her mother, Nevadeane “Deanie” Olson, of Salina; her brother, Jerry Olson and family of Parker, Colo.; her husband, Larry; a son, Matt (Sherry), of Salina; a son, John, of Humble, Texas; a daughter, Britt, of Manhattan; grandsons, Andrew, Daniel, Ethan and Grant; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A “Celebration of Joy” will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Avenue, Salina. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Music Ministry.
