Eric Jason Greer (Big E) passed away at his home Thursday, December 12th, 2013. Eric was born April 11th, 1978 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Larry and Barbara Greer.
Eric grew up and resided in Salina, Kansas. He attended Gleniffer Hill Elementary and his favorite teacher was Mrs. Pelechek 2nd grade. He later attended Roosevelt-Lincoln Jr. High and that is when he became our football star. He then attended Salina Central High School where he further honed his football skills. Eric loved playing football and baseball for the Central Mustangs. Eric graduated High School and also graduated Salina Area Vo-tech as a certified Auto Body Techinician. Although Eric’s main occupation was certified STUD, he remained in the Automotive Industry. Eric later became a Master Welder and took pride in his work.
Eric had many hobbies and always had to stay busy. He was always pushing the envelope in life. He raced motorcycles, raced cars at Salina Speedway, living life to the fullest. He enjoyed tinkering with his “61″ Impala and helping out mom and dad with their needs, vacumming and doing chores that nobody else wanted to do. Basically, Eric was famous for doing the dirty work. He loved it. I know this obit is long and costing $4 per line, but that’s what he would’ve wanted. “MAKE IT RAIN UP IN HERE”! Eric was a sharp dressed man and made his presence known. Eric had many friends and he will be missed.
Eric was the baby out of us 5 kids; sisters, Laura Greer, Tonya Greer; brothers, Larry Greer II (Bub) and Garrett Greer aka “G”! Eric and Garrett were not only brothers, but also best friends, as they were so close in age. Eric is preceded in death by his nephew, Ryan Sonneberger, his sister, Laura Greer, his grandfather, Garrett J, Greer III, our father, Larry R. Greer and grandmother, Bernita Marie Greer. Eric has numerous nieces and nephews, Natashia, Jessica, Hollie, Torey, Joshua, Danielle, Rhiannon, Lil Eric, Meradeth, Darrian, Jordanna, Olliyana and many more but they’re not old enough to be mad at me for not mentioning (except for brother-in-law Greg Sonneberger and Patrick Daily).
I’m making this slightly humerous because that is what Eric would want. He was a very humerous person, always taking it too far. I’m also making it long for our brother, Garrett Jackson Greer IV, because he will be reading this from afar, I love you brother. Eric Greer will forever remain in our hearts and never be forgotten. Go with God my baby brother.
Funeral Service will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Salina. Vistation will be Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Ryan Mortuary from 4-8pm with family receiving friends from 6-8pm. Memorials maybe made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Salina Christian Academy or to Wounded Warriors in memory of Larry Greer Sr.
